I knew I had my work caught out for me, but I was determine to persuade my brother.
According to Herb Simons from Temple University, persuasion “is the process of communication designed to modify the judgments of others in intended directions”. (Regis.edu, 2018) to say the least, I had to change my brother’s point of view through symbolic interaction. In order to do this, I had to find words with shared meaning and values that were important to my brother, but most importantly, this opportunity invited me to “search for and find God in every circumstance of life”. The first step was to invite my brother to spend some quality time with me, I knew that by having this time together, I would get my brother’s full attention.
