Technology has proven to take over the minds of all, especially children. We should know by now that technology should be limited, no matter what age. In today's world, the amount of screens have increased, making it more available to children. This includes but is not limited to: tablets, smartphones and handheld video games. Children ages 8 and under have doubled their usage, so I believe it is important to limit screen time.
In the United States alone, children have an average of 7.5 hours of screen time per day. I acknowledge this with my own neighbor's daughter, Lea. Lea is extremely bright for a three year old, but the amount of hours she spends on her tablet is concerning. Children should be out playing, as it helps with emotional health, imagination, original thinking, and problem solving. Screen time "play" - even if educational - does not help the child develop in the same ways.

Studies show that television viewing by preschoolers lowers their executive functions such as the ability to complete a given task. Also, this leads to lower test scores in the future. I was always a straight A student growing up, and once I was exposed to technology, I found myself less interested in school with a lack of creativity. It's no mystery that now, for the first time in fifty years, researchers have concluded a significant decrease in kids' creativity.
It's time to limit the usage of technology in children. Afterall, you'd be doing your child a favor in the long run. I believe if more parents were aware of the damages, they would acknowledge why it is important to limit screen time.
