A quote by writer Vadim Kotelnikov once said, “If you stop learning, you stop creating history and become history.” Ancient Greece is a huge part of history. The legacies they left behind have helped us develop into the society that we are today- advanced, modern and knowledgeable. We no longer rely on myths, gods or goddesses to blame or thank for our everyday lives. On the other hand, they certainly left incredible and valuable knowledge that we continue to use today: Literature, Math and Science, as well as arts and theater. These are three important legacies they left behind!
Literature is one of the many legacies the Greeks have left behind. Homer, a famous Greek poet first taught the Greeks about literature. He wrote about war, peace, honor, disgrace, love, and hatred. Two of his most famous epics were the Iliad and The Odyssey. Homer was important to Greece because he always tried to look on the bright side. His poems showed heroism, nobility, and the good life. The “father” of science is the Greek philosopher Aristotle. He lived during 300 BC and collected information about plants. One of his students Theophrastus classified and named these plants. He was known as the father of botany. Botany is very important because the food that animals and people eat comes from plants. Without Theophrastus and Aristotle, we would’ve never known about how these plants help our bodies, or what the names of them
