Why Is It Good To Be Proud Of Your Heritage?

In the text Helena learned that Danes are patriotic and self-aware. She claims they love waving their flag “literally and metaphorically” which means that they might as well be waving their flag by talking proudly about their country. I agree with what she claims because I see the Danish flag around Denmark all the time and I believe it’s good to be proud of your heritage. However, their patriotism can also be caused from the world perceives them as the happiest country around the world and they don’t want to the let the world down by not liking their country.

Patriotism is extremely important in America and is a piece of the foundation of our government, since it, as well as, nationalism and American pride have been rampant since the American Revolution and early years of the United States. Through patriotism, the U.S. can accomplish many things with the help of its people, especially when times are rough and a considerable amount of help is needed, even if it means sacrificing an arm or a limb, theoretically, for our government. Today, there are many organizations that were created as a way of helping drafted troops abroad. People can show their appreciation for the troops by sending donations to them for extended foreign trips, medical supplies and equipment, canned, dehydrated, or nonperishable food items, plastic utensils, basic hygiene supplies like toothbrushes, toothpaste, floss, body wipes, disposable razors, special products (for feminine hygiene), not to mention, people can also send sentimental…

If George Washington would come back for one day and see how us Americans are acting and our patriotism towards America he wouldn’t be happy at all. In fact when George Washington said one of his quotes it stated “The name of American, which belongs to you in your natural capacity must always exalt the just pride of patriotism…..”, and what that is if you are an American you should always speak highly or never speak bad on Americas. The role of patriotism today isn’t very large on a lot of Americans. The patriotism isn’t strong like how it was when George Washington was president, so I think he wouldn’t be impressed with how things have changed greatly such as human rights, technology, and how most Americans are split up mostly because of…
