The Thief of Always is a suspenseful full of action book by Clive Barker, he writes a book about how the protagonist Harvey has to face the antagonist Hood to free the children's souls aching to come out. The quartet is so loyal to Hood but does Hood really treat them the way they should be, is Hood really that cruel. The quartet Rictus, Marr, Carna and Jive are all Hood’s servant’s that he created with his magic but Hood is so cruel he can’t even treat them nicely.
Since Hood treats his quartet badly that proves how heartless he really is. Some ways that he treats is cruel is that he treats his quartet badly,

First Rictus is treated badly, by stating some points. Now Rictus is treated badly and this also prove that Hood is cruel. Hood tries to kill Rictus.At the end Rictus says to Hood that he can kill Harvey“ Before Rictus could finish Hood took hold of his servant's head, and with one short motion simply twisted it off?“ (117).Since Hood even killed his servant that means that he probably didn’t like what Rictus said.
