Homework Is Not Necessary for High School Students High school is the important time to integrate and deepen the knowledge, and to get ready to enter a college, start a career, or other opportunities in society. Gaining academic intelligence in different subjects and areas is necessary before entering post-high school life, and homework may help students to gain academic intelligence. However, high school students today are very busy, spending most of the time in school every day, extracurricular activities, and other things. Since high students are in school for a long time daily, they should focus on academic learning during the school session instead of spending time doing homework after school. Homework for high school students isn’t necessary because it can be a waste of time. Homework doesn’t help students enjoy their high school experience, so it should not be given in high school. In high school, students have the same class schedule every day, in which they spend about one hour of instruction on each subject every day. Teachers and students should try to focus on in-class learning, not depending on homework. If they focus on learning, they don’t have to do more work at home. Homework can be time-consuming. The National Sleep Foundation recommends teenagers sleep about nine hours of sleep every night. However, many teenagers need to do homework at night, and they end up losing valuable time to sleep. According to a study, only twenty percent of teenagers sleep as the recommendation length of sleep. When teenagers don’t get enough sleep, they lose the skill of attention, memorization, creativity, cognition, problem solving, and motivation. Homework is not beneficial at all when students are not sleeping enough to finish it at night and spending the class time with a sleepy head next
