Why Is Homework Important To Me

My dad is a logic lover, and plays all kinds of puzzles: Sudoku, logic puzzles, jigsaw puzzles… Game books and plastic puzzles can be found everywhere in his study. He spends most of his spare time working on them, and sometimes he is even willing to miss sleep to finish a jigsaw puzzle. My dad also likes to play card games such as 24-point and cribbage. He believes these games exercise his brain and help him keep his thinking sharp.
For me, puzzles and cards have always been my toys; I grew up playing with them instead of Barbie. More than that, they have been our family activity. Card games are a good way to kill time while traveling, and my family and friends also like to play card games on holidays, having a conversation in the background.

I was so excited, since it was a new challenge for me. When I was eleven years old, I had learned to solve a regular Rubik’s Cube with my dad’s help; it took me a little time to memorize and practice the steps, but it was not too difficult overall. I decided to solve the Megaminx by myself. I remembered that the key to solving a Rubik’s Cube is to solve it by layers, so I started to solve the Megaminx in the same way. However, I was not successful, and got stuck halfway through. I tried to figure it out in my own way, and started over again and again, but I still could not get any further than halfway. Finally, I decided to take a peek at the instructions in the box; but the chocolate-bar-sized instructions had no words, just arrows. It made no sense to me. I was so frustrated, but rather than giving up, I was more determined to find a solution. I figured out the instructions and worked on the Megaminx. After three weeks’ worth of attempts, I finally solved it on my own.
Solving the Megaminx, and puzzles in general, is exhilarating. Even though I sacrificed time that would have been available for other entertainment, I am proud of my accomplishment. I am rewarded with happiness and satisfaction every time I solve a puzzle, and I hope I continue to feel this way the rest of my life. I may encounter difficult problems in the future, but I will always try to solve them. I will keep on solving my

In the beginning of high school, I couldn’t understand the importance of handling my responsibilities, especially when it came to my school work. I just couldn’t find the motivation to hand in stuff like homework on time. I actually started to do less and less each school year. I never try to fix my problem because there were never any consequences to it. I would pass all my classes with decent grades with no problems despite ignoring a lot of the work, but then I was called by my English teacher to stay after class.…

One game that ties these elements together is Rugrats: Search for Reptar is a PlayStation game that was released in 1998.The game is based on the popular Nickelodeon cartoon Rugrats, which aired from 1991 until 2004. The game follows the main character of the cartoon, Tommy Pickles, who has lost his Reptar puzzle (IMDb). The last time I recall playing the game was twelve years ago at the age of nine. In order to get a good understanding of the game again I watched a walkthrough of someone else playing the game. The semantics of the title of the game did not mean much, but as soon as I heard the diegetic sound of the theme song, it called my attention because immediately all my childhood memories of the game came back.…

They turn the cube over in their hands, half-heartedly they make a few moves and then sheepishly hand it back.…

It can consolidate the knowledge that students have already studied, train students' creativity, and develop students' intelligence. Moreover, it is very essential to require some homework in the teaching process. Butler (1987) states, “Homework is the time students spend outside the classroom in assigned activities to practice, reinforce or apply newly-acquired skills and knowledge and to learn necessary skills of independent study” (p.17). Most homework assigned by teachers is for practice and preparation purposes because instructional homework may be assigned to help students. Parents often have questions about why homework is assigned, how beneficial it is, and how they may best help their child complete homework.…
