For instance, the student debt crisis is the next financial disaster looming on the horizon. Hillary Clinton has proposed a plan that would make community college free for everyone, regardless of income. According to an article US News & World Report (Huelsman), “... working class students could see their net total price for all college dip to just over $6,000.” As an older student returning to higher education later in life, the prospect of accruing a massive amount of debt is not an attractive one. Hillary Clinton’s plan for college debt relief is not only personally beneficial but would provide relief to millions of current and former students suffering under the burden of college

Earlier this month, Hillary Clinton unveiled her plan to make college more affordable. The plan, titled the New College Compact, would allow students to attend a four-year public college without taking out loans for tuition, while also providing states with higher enrollments of low- and middle-income students with more funding. The Compact would cost $350 billion over the next ten years, and would primarily be paid for through closing tax loopholes and capping tax deductions wealthy families can take on tax returns.…

In the contemporary era of intense partisan divide, it seems inconceivable that a second-term Republican president would nominate a jurist for the Supreme Court who would later earn the moniker “the liberal lion”. Even more implausible is the notion that the nominee would earn almost unanimous backing from the Senate, with only one dissenting vote. Yet, in October 1956, Dwight D. Eisenhower appointed a lawyer by the name of William Joseph Brennan, Jr. to a place on the highest court bench in the country, beginning a tenure that would last almost thirty-four years and span eight presidencies. During this time, Justice Brennan adjudicated over 1300 cases, with many of his verdicts continuing to impact American society in the present day.…

The bill “College for All Act” would make college available for those who can’t afford to pay for an education. “Sanders focuses on the potential benefits of this big idea because low income students could find college doors opened to them and all students could graduate without debt. ”(Fahrenthold) Those students who graduate with debt are mostly those who belong to the low income class, which only means that making college free would really benefit the low income class and the economy. “We live in a highly-competitive global economy and if our economy is to be strong, we need the best-educated work force in the world” (Shramm) stated Bernie Sanders on the necessity of the bill.…

I will first talk about the Bernie Sanders in regards to his thoughts on what should be done to help students after college. The College for all Act” will provide free tuition for any public and any university in America.” This would mean that any student regardless of his or her background or income who has the ability and desire will be able to get the education they need and the education they deserve, this also comes with a reasonable plan on how it will be done. However, Hillary Clinton wants to refinance and strip as much interest rate as possible and give the students a chance to get into a contingency repayment program. I believe Clinton has been in office for several years, meaning she know what she is getting into. Determination and persistence were an integral part of Hillary Clinton character. She further hopes to aid those students already suffering from debt and make sure that colleges provide a more affordable tuition. Her plan includes an income-based repayment program and a cut in interest rates. Although Clinton’s plan aims to help students, its does not propose free college for all. Also, students have to contribute to the plan by working 10 hours a week. This seems fair considering the huge amount of money it will take to carry out this plan, to be exact, $350 billion over 10 years.…

The Trump campaign highly appeals to the voters who are apprehensive of the country’s evolution over recent years (Decker, 2016). The Clinton campaign appeals to a vast array of minorities (Decker, 2016). In essence, the two campaigns are representative of “old America” and “new America,” as put by the LA Times writer Cathleen Decker. The differences in views between the two nominees bring the question: whom will the new president nominate for the Supreme Court?…

Even with some who favor college debt as a necessity and will only be temporary, the negative effects of owning a large sum of money while also focusing on achieving a higher education surely outweighs the pros of college tuition. College debt affects students’ mental health, their performance in school, and also decrease social interaction in an effort to maintain decent grades and a secondary job to payback their loans. In addition, making college free will provide an opportunity for everyone, rich and poor, to receive a higher education. With more educated citizens in the United States, the rate of those living in poverty will lower and the country will prosper. Higher education is vital for the success of the United State’s economy…

Free tuition and no debt for students attending higher education within the United States seems like a terrific proposal, however, there are several hidden small prints that may result in certain disadvantages for Americans. Many colleges across the country already offer student loans and other scholarships for low-income families in order to provide accessible education. Moreover, if this plan turns into an official policy, expenses for federal and local governments will increase up to $75 billion annually, only in public universities and colleges. As a result of such expenditures, nationwide increases in taxes would be significantly reflected and Wall Street will be the central target. According to Michael Hiltzik, a reporter for Los Angeles Times in the article “How free college tuition would become a giveaway to the rich” he argues that,…

Education is expensive and unaffordable to many Americans; and total student debt has now surpassed $1.2 trillion dollars. Being a “struggling student” myself, I empathize with the students of the US that are trying very hard to get a good education without getting into tens of thousands of dollars in debt with student loans. Hillary plans on making it where students can attend college and have the option to graduate from a public college and/or a four-year university in their own state, student debt free. By the year 2021, she plans for families that have an income of $125,000 or less to not have to pay any tuition at a four-year public college or university; for every student who comes from a household income of $85,000 a year or less, to be able go to a four-year public college or university without having to pay any tuition at all, and for all community colleges to be tuition free. Coming from a family of 7 with a household income that circles the poverty category, college tuition was just not in my family’s budget.…
