A supportive and intellectual community, focused board of professors and teachers, and opportunities for growth and success are my pillars for a good university. It’s important for me to be able to work and collaborate with my peers - peers that will be present in my professional life beyond college. Thoughtful professors who are genuinely interested in my own success are also crucial factors in my decision. I believe that teachers who work with the students are of much greater value than those who merely relay information and expect high test scores. Georgia Tech has one of the best environments for student-teacher collaboration.…

Ever since I watched the movie Legally Blonde, it has been my dream (and probably most college girls) to join a sorority and have sisters like Elle Woods did. During the summer right before entering my freshman year at University of West Florida, I decided to research more on what sorority life is actually about. When doing my research, I found out my school had five Panhellenic sororities all of whom had different values and to join you have to get selected by going through a recruitment process that is a week long. I then started to research more about the chapters, making me fall in love instantly.…

Active involvement at school benefits both the student and the greater school community by developing students with varied interests and passions. Fortunately, many high schools, including St.John's, have a diverse portfolio of clubs and extracurricular activities like sports, drama, and community service for student participation. Involvement beyond the traditional classroom strengthens the bonds between the student community by bringing together like-minded students in a more social setting. Expansion of their social network on school campuses makes for happier students, and happier students do better in class. Additionally, college recruiters favor students with a more diverse set of interests and activities outside of the classroom, as…

Similar to high school I want to get involved in my community at Framingham State University such as participating in the Afro-Caribbean Dance, Alternative Spring Break, and Aspiring Health Professionals Club while still working part time job. In the summer of 2015 upon entering my junior year I was given the wonderful opportunity to spend the Summer at Brown University. Where I participated in the program of “Watching…

I come from a background that is heavily influenced by two distinctly different cultures: an American one through my father, and a Ryukyuan-Okinawan one through my mother. I found it extremely hard during my childhood to balance these two cultural extremes, but eventually I learned to embrace both fully and equally. I desire to share my unique bicultural heritage with my future classmates as much as I desire to learn about theirs. I also consider myself intellectually diverse, which I define as having a learning inclination toward all things. By attending GSSM, I hope to gain a veritable ‘stockpile’ of knowledge, not just from the people I will meet but from the scholastic trajectory I will pursue there.…

I would like to explore the STEM field at a much deeper level. I’ve learned a lot relating to science from my classes ranging in Earth Science, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. However, in comparison to what can be explored and has been discovered in the universe thus far, there is much more that I can learn science in general. Participating in this program would give a better understanding on the research NASA scientists are working on today. This better understanding would include how scientists collect their data in greater detail, what they are doing right now and the future and how will this research help society now and in the near and distant future.…

They don’t tell you who I am as a person, nor do they tell you if I would be a good candidate for your school. Hopefully, in this personal testimony of mine, I would like to explain some of the reasons why you should consider me as a student that is right for your school. I would first like to start off saying that your school is at the top of my list, as well as many others. I know that I am a perfect candidate for FIT as I have learned many great things in high school and at the community college I attend that will benefit me on my journey as I go to transfer to a four year University of my choice.…
