Giving birth to my only child, Sophia Bianca, is one of the hardest things I’ve ever done in my life. A process that started nine months before she was born, I have to give up many pleasures in life to ensure that she will be healthy and strong. One of which is drinking coffee and eating sweets. To ensure her health, a healthy diet and routine were a must so I made sure I take a liberal amount of vegetables and fruits and get regular exercise as well. Dealing with occasional bouts of dizziness and morning sickness that goes with pregnancy wasn’t easy either. Menial tasks such as tying my shoes or driving a car became difficult by the seventh month of my pregnancy, and my husband had to do these jobs for me. As I got fuller, walking became tougher. Falling asleep became strenuous as well since I am constricted in one position, lying on my back. Then on the early morning of April 2, I began feeling some pains. As the pain became regular, we rushed to the hospital. At about 6:00 a.m, a midwife assisted me to the delivery room hooking me up to a machine that monitors the contraction. She also measured how far am I from giving birth, a process that was very painful and had to be repeated a couple of times. By 9:00 a.m., my midwife decided to speed up the birth process by bursting my water bag. She predicted that in 30 to 40 minutes I should be giving birth; however, this did not happen. To make matters worse, a medicine was injected to me to numb the pain, yet I still agonized with the contraction all the way to 9:00 p.m. Due to the delayed delivery, we were concerned that the baby was
