In The Crucible, by Arthur Miller, it shows the hangings of numerous people for being accused of witchcraft. Some of the deaths were unnecessary and could have been avoided without interrupting or taking away from the story; while on the other hand some were crucial as to stopping the trials from going any further. I also believe that some deaths were meant to teach some characters in The Crucible a kind of lesson that they learn from. A death that I don’t believe was especially needed in the story, but did influence another to not confess, was Giles Corey’s. The reason as to why his death was not crucial to the story is that he is not a highly thought of person, or character in the story; so yes people would be affected by it, but I
