Even though General Zaroff and Rainsford show that they are alike when it comes to certain factors, they have very contrasting personalities. The main trait to describe General Zaroff and is unfair. For example, “One almost did win. I eventually had to use the dogs” (26). General Zaroff unfairly used his hunting dogs to his advantage in order to track a man down. This method would most likely be called cheating. In addition to the last quote, “But he saw the General's right hand held something metallic - a small automatic pistol” (31). The General was using a pistol when Rainsford only had a knife to use. This shows that General Zaroff had an unfair advantage once again.
