Franklin D. Roosevelt was born in Hyde Park, New York in 1882, and after years of prestigious schooling (including the likes of Harvard) he worked as an apprentice lawyer at a New York law firm. After doing that for three years, he moved on to politics; promptly being elected as a democratic New York State Senator. In his time in the Senate, he supported one of the then presidential hopefuls, Woodrow Wilson. After the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor in late 1941 and the German and Italian declarations of war against the United States of America, Roosevelt and the Americans officially entered a state of war.
