Is football too dangerous to be played in high school? Around 95 percent of people say football is a dangerous sport to be played in high school. There are many injuries reported while playing the sport of football. “Football, one of the most popular sports in the United States, is also the leading cause of sports-related injuries” (Nationwide Children’s Hospital 22). The sport of football is a fantastic sport to play, but players, coaches, and parents have to realize football will lead to all kinds of injuries and also death. “Four out of every 1,000 high school football exposures resulted in an injury (Nationwide Children’s Hospital 22), there are many high school students who have to have surgeries because of football. Football is a competitive sport and they play to win. …show more content…
If students are more than likely to get hit in the head, it can cause trauma. This trauma can turn into something worst. When playing the sport of football, players don’t think about the pain they will be in if they were to get hurt, all players and coaches think about is winning. Football helmets and football pads don’t always protect players from getting an injury. Another important head injury is called concussions. Alan Schwarz states that “concussions are more dangerous for teenagers because studies show their brain tissue is less developed than adults and more easily damaged” (25). Adults are less likely to get concussions as easy as teens. An adult brain is more developed than a teenager's brain. Teenagers should be extra cautious when playing football since they are more at risk for concussions than an adult. Football should not be played in high school but players love the game of
