“The flu is very unpredictable when it begins and how it takes off.” Fineberg, V. Harvey (2015). To get a flu vaccine while being a healthcare staff has always been a “hot” topic. Some people are for it and some are against it. It is said that getting a flu vaccine, might decrease the risk of nosocomial infections for healthcare staff; but like the quote says, “The flu is very unpredictable.”…
Although this study provides many other options. Vaccination could get quite expensive, but most of this health care workers would be able to get this vaccination for free in their clinics and hospitals. The other solutions would be to take a document from their employee in which they would get reimbursed for the cost. When talking about needles, sometimes accommodations have to be made but this is a problem why a lot of people are not getting vaccinated there are other options.…
Hospital systems also tried to encourage education and use complementary approaches to increase vaccinations rates (Stewart, 2012). The goal for healthcare workers was to achieve 90% of those working in healthcare to be vaccinated against the flu. In 2004-2008, 40% of healthcare workers were vaccinated against the flu.…
The inadequate supervision of State healthcare protocols allowed for such scary statics of unimmuned children to go unnoticed for so long. Also, the outdated rigidity of some federal policies delayed appropriate intervention. As mentioned in the book, the shortage in staff was a known issue to the amongst health agencies, including the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). But due to the specificity of budgetary distribution policies, CDC could not…
Rebecca, thank you for sharing your post with fantastic information covering immunizations concerns, example of Ebola, airborne isolation, infection prevention committee and reducing injuries. At Bellin in Green Bay, annual flu immunizations follow the same protocol, mandating staff within direct patient care those who deny the flu vaccine must wear a mask throughout the entire flu season. This protocol is on way to reduce risks of exposure by protecting both staff and patients. Some staff members don’t agree with the protocol however I support and follow the protocol each year through my annual flu vaccination.…
If someone denies getting vaccinated the doctors are not held responsible to see them.…
In my role as a Quality Assurance Specialist, I inform individuals, groups, and organizations as to the regulations and statutes about immunizations. In fact, within my scope, I ensure compliance with these rules and statutes. Furthermore, I am always optimistic and willing to join community events to share the importance of immunization as a critical mechanism to avoid infectious disease. I feel comfortable analyzing laboratory/morbidity reports and visiting laboratories and physicians to…

Policy -Should action be taken?…
Nurses and nurse practitioners must teach the public about why vaccines are so important. The public’s understanding of these illness and their risks is the best way to get everyone to vaccinate their children. Many people sometimes forget that many of the diseases for which we now have can be caused by not being vaccinated. Like a whooping cough, and also measles which can be deadly. It’s very important to be vaccinated because it keeps you healthy, vaccines can prevent diseases that haven’t been gone away, and the last reason is it’s your responsibility to protect your family. In the past few years, as the rate of many disease has fallen from the result of vaccination progress.…
This argument has been debated for a quite a long time. Should you or should you not have a vaccination. There is research for both sides of this argument. But for healthcare workers, the choice of having the vaccination is mandatory and if the healthcare worker refuses the vaccine they will not have a job at where he or she is working and must find an new facility to work in. Not having the choice of having a vaccination is unjust and wrong.…
Every year heath care professionals will urge their patients to do one of the most beneficial things a person can do for their health. They will urge their patients to get an influenza vaccine also known as a flu shot. Less than half of these patients will actually be vaccinated. According to the Center for Disease Control it is estimated that between 5% and 20% of U.S. residents get the flu and more than 200,000 people are hospitalized yearly because of flu related complications. (CDC)…
