Remorse is when regret for a decision occurs after one makes a decision, and it does not happen only when buying something; buyer’s remorse is only one common real world example. Several questions and steps must be considered to avoid remorse in any decision, even though the decision may seem like it is the best solution at the time. When one is deciding to give up their life, whether it is to relieve suffering or expenses, there is no going back. The decision is made and then that person’s life is gone, no chance in the future occurs to regret that choice. This is why it is important to decide if it is really worth it to give up life. Even if the patient may feel like it is the best choice at the time, they may be mentally unhealthy and influenced by pain, medical bills, and so on. The choice is then made to take their life even though the patient is not thinking in their right mind. This will then affect family and peers as previously explained. Influence from a doctor for a patient to consider the practice of euthanasia is very illegal, but sadly it still happens. This can be done through subtle hints that there is no other option or that the best solution for their family is if they were not burdened with the emotional and financial issues their medical state could cause. The reason that would cause a doctor to do this is to reduce operational expenses. This does seem like an outrageous idea, but some doctors have been unethical enough to do this. It is true that even if euthanasia were illegal, this would still occur, but it would reduce the amount of these cases greatly. Another concern against this practice is that persuasion not only occurs with doctors, but with family members as well. The family of the suffering patient may begin to feel like they do not want see him/her go through more pain. Family members will then begin to use the same methods that some doctors do to persuade them into thinking about this decision, for the purpose of relieving his or her burdens. Although the family may feel like they are helping, they really cannot decide this solution is best because they do not know the reality of the patient’s mental and emotional state aside from their physical state.
