I believe empathy in the nursing profession is the understanding of compassion, the gift of kindness and sympathy humanity that nurses have for their patients. Without empathy it will be very difficult for nurses to understand what their patient’s wants and needs in order to provide them the best caring. Empathy is a very important characteristics that not only nurses but also whoever works in the medical field should have. It helps us to engage with patients, to empower them, to comfort them to feel better.
