Emily Dickinson (1830-1886) Was a very private person. She was well known as being a recluse. Although she was consider a hermit she is considered one of the most well-known poets in American History. Not a lot is known about Emily life but she left a lot to be determined about herself in her poetry. In her poetry she talks about politics, religion Gender, and sex. In her ideas of “identity” the American Identity is established in her poetry. Dickinson writing style lies internally in her consciousness, concerning questions about the body, death, politics and private truths.
