The 101st Airborne Divisions and 82nd Airborne parachuted into Normandy on June 6th, 1944. Easy Company’s job was to capture the entrance to “Causeway 2” a route of off Utah Beach for the allied invasion. Along with the drop into Normandy, Easy Company had to also capture the town on Carentan because it was an important town that connected Utah and Omaha beaches so allied forces can move equipment to soldiers. Easy Company was successful in both areas, penetrating into Normandy and holding the town of Carentan. Another reason that Easy Company is important to U.S history and is important for people to know about is because they parachuted into Holland on Operation Market Garden. Even though Operation Market Garden was considered unsuccessful, it was still a crucial event in WWII. For Easy Company in Operation Market Garden they relieved the British 43rd Infantry Division.
