Most people enroll in colleges and universities to receive their degree and acquire necessary education that they need to get a job or shape their future careers. Finding a good job explains the primary reason why people spend most of their time and money in colleges and universities to have a better life and a high level of living. And in today’s world, there is no alternative way of acquiring such core competency and knowledge apart from attending those higher institutions of learning. “A degree has always been considered the key to a good job”(Donald 2012). No one can dismiss the essence of higher institutions of learning because it imparts proper moral, as well as theoretical education that any country cannot do without. Countries around the world have established institutional structures of knowledge that will prepare ideal citizens. The society and the people have accepted this system of full education. Also, some of the Gulf countries such as Saudi Arabia and Kuwait send some of the hard-working students to complete their education at the expense of the country through scholarship programs that provide for full student expenses under certain …show more content…
These higher institutions of learning provide an opportunity to venture into their chosen majors. Although most of these colleges and universities have stipulated general requirements that are mandatory to earn a degree, a few of them that have embraced specific education have remained the most preferred by the people. The reason is that they recognize the talent and passion of their students reflected in their chosen area of interest. The love that students have towards their majors lays a fundamental ground of familiarity that these colleges and universities will shape for them.
According to Phyllis M. Wise, the Chancellor of the University of Illinois, higher institutions of learning must prepare students with essential knowledge in preparing them for their flexibility in the work environment “It is important to teach students a body of knowledge—the "facts" of a discipline. One cannot pursue any profession without understanding the principles of it”(The Chronicle of Higher Education, 2013).
