There is no law on the books saying you are forbidden from civil disobedience. As long as the law does not agree with your perspective, we, as citizens, can oppose that law and do the contrary of it. In Antigone, Antigone chooses to disobey the laws of Creon, the king of Thebes. I know that if Ismene had done more to convincing her sister to not bury her brother, she would not have died. In this society today, probably. This is an example of an unjust law and how the movement of civil disobedience can have an impact towards it. You know the road ahead of you but you do it anyway because one small movement like that can have a major effect in your community and towards the future. In the article “Why Confederate Monuments Must Fall” by Karen L. Cox, she mentions how leaving monuments of Confederate monuments were symbols of white supremacy. People want to leave them where they are since they represent our history and heritage.
