Why Is Christmas Too Commercialized

Improved Essays
Is Christmas too commercialized? Well, I will tell you my opinion. I feel as if it is. People know it is an moneymaker, so they put Christmas stuff out on Thanksgiving night. Be happy because you are with your family. Christmas does not have the same meaning it once did. Christmas is about being about Jesus not gifts.

Firstly, Christmas doesn't have the meaning it used to. On this certain day were are supposed to celebrate the birth of our savior, Jesus Christ. Too many people think of nothing but the presents, when in reality without that one person, who died for our sins, they would not even be on this Earth. We need to calm ourselves and remember the true meaning of Christmas. We need to remember to thank our parents for, not only our presents, but for the clothes on our backs and the roof above our head. Christmas is supposed to be a day to enjoy with our family and friends. Christmas now and the day is all about the presents, no one celebrates the true reasons of this holiday. Christmas is about the love, joy, and peace around most parts of the world. To put in simpler words, we don't celebrate the true meaning of Christmas.

Many sales people put Christmas stuff out on Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving is not the time to think of what you will get from Santa, but to give thanks to the things you already have. Christmas things should be put out in December, not November. It's a moneymaker and people know that so they take advantage of the holiday to make lots of money to spend on more Christmas presents. Some people even go to door to door to sell things that would make good Christmas presents. Most of them are really expensive, but you buy them anyways because the salesperson makes them Jesus related. So, Christmas is a easy target for money

The time of Christmas and holidays should be a time of happiness but things like this should have the appropriate time and place. Melanie Springer Mock, in her article “Separation of Church and State: A war on Christmas and Other Misguided Notions,” recounts her celebrations of the birth of Jesus. Mock purpose is to urge those who are not Christian are and still left out since the separation of the church from the government. I hate Christmas because nothing is phenomenal. I am not being facetious. I assume that Santa was busy and remiss when he forgot to give me a Christmas gift. Every time I saw other children play with their new toys by looking through the translucent window, I consternated about Christmas, and felt disconsolate. It is a paradox that a rich country should be so many poor people.…

Christmas is the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ, the man who founded Christianity. Some Americans are offended when they see the words Merry Christmas, or when religious music is played during parades. There are countless posts on the web about how offensive it is to impose Christianity on the public by using Merry Christmas on signs, in songs and in schools. Instead of giving every American the freedom of speech and religion, America has followed popular culture by using the phrases Merry Xmas or Seasons Greetings.…

On Thanksgiving, people have fun with their family and friends. It’s a day where they share a meal and drink alcohol together. However, in my family, we do not celebrate Thanksgiving because the holidays are different because of our culture. In my country, Dominican Republic celebrates Christmas Eve, which is the same as Thanksgiving, but the food is different compared to the food in America. Christmas Eve is still celebrated on December 24th; the food that the family makes is Pernil, rice, beans, and some wine.…
