In the article, “In Latin America, Looking at the Positive Side of Child Labor”, we see why people support this idea and what it does positively. As the article infers, “The first such child worker organization was founded in Peru 35 years ago; today there are eight in Latin America (in Bolivia, Peru, Ecuador, Venezuela, Guatemala, Colombia, Paraguay and Nicaragua). They receive financial support from small child advocacy NGOs often with adult social workers as advisors. All require that their members stay in school and establish projects to improve working conditions. In Ecuador, the union has organized a system of cooperatives that provides better paying jobs for children and teens.” This quote proves that in the poorest countries, child workers actually get treated fair, taken care of and receive support from multiple organizations who want to help make their jobs a bit easier and their rewards a little bit bigger. Kids used to get hurt, and mostly got killed working on the job. Now that doesn’t occur as much as it used to. In the article, “In Latin America, Looking at the Positive Side of Child Labor”, we see how much safer the child workers environment is now these days. As the article infers, “More than 150 nations backed by millions of dollars from the U.N. Child Fund, have adopted the ILO’s landmark conventions, establishing legal minimum working ages (normally 14 or 15) and promising to abolish the “worst forms” of child labor. As a result, millions of children no longer endanger their lives everyday for a pittance.” There are millions of dollars in funds that will go towards safe jobs for kids and raising age limits so that underage children don’t risk their health as much as a proper aged worker does. This quote proves that child workers have a less risk of dying
