Why Is Chicago A Beautiful Place

Have you ever been out of town to visit family and you just miss everything about home? Despite the fact that it’s Chicago and everyone thinks it’s just a horrible place to live. I’ve lived on the Southside of Chicago almost all my life in the bad and good neighborhoods and for various reasons, I believe Chicago is one of the best places to live in U.S because of the cleanliness, the wider streets, and the food.

The first reason Chicago is one of the best places to live in is that of the cleanliness. When you leave your house you’ll notice that the streets are clean because we have alleys where we put our garbage.
There is no garbage in our streets compared to New York and even if there is that’s why we have nice people that like to take care of our environment to help and volunteer to pick up garbage and recycle things that need to be. Good people are very rare and even when you’re a bad person it may result into cleaning our environment for example when you get yourself into a world full of trouble the judge may order you to do community service for a certain a number of hours. For that amount of time you're given you will pick garbage up that some people may like to throw on the side of the road because there driving and can’t wait till they get out so they liter which is left for you to clean. Either way, we all come together good or bad and help Chicago be a better clean city.

Downtown Chicago has lots of nice tall buildings and people have to commute every day to get to work around them or even inside those buildings, there’s enough space for parking on the streets which is more convenient. They also have the selection of three lanes which they could go the speed they desire and lots of apps and radio stations that tell you where the traffic is backed up at so that you could avoid it and get the kids to school on

We have no control over the lives we are born into. Some of us are tall, others short; some blonde, others brunette; but all of us are lucky enough to have families that care for us and communities invested in our future. Imagine if you can what your life would have been like had you been born and raised in the Chicago Housing Projects. Trying to envision how different our lives might have turned out as a result would be near impossible I think—at least until Sudhir Venkatesh wrote this book. He went undercover for many years as an affiliate of the Black Kings drug gang and became very close with its leader J.T.…

This relates to the theme humans working together to solve problems because in Ghettoside and in other violent cities many gang members only know how to use guns to solve their problems, but in Chicago’s counseling program they are taught different ways to approach people they have a problem with, without using a gun. In Ghettoside, friends, siblings and even parents set up fights for children so that they can solve it by fighting instead of shooting at each other. It isn’t the ideal way to solve a problem, but it is better than having kids be killed because they don’t like each…

In the video pollution solution number 2570, Bill Nye helps us try to understand pollution of the earth in the form of toxic wastes, carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, and noise. He states that the earth is an ecosystem and demonstrates how human beings, industries, and other facilities pollute the earth which is a closed ecosystem. He further states that most of pollution comes from human beings but not big factories and power plants that everyone thinks. This takes place in the form of small vehicle engines, the noise that people make and lawn mower. All these are referred to as non-point source pollution.…

When someone mentions the Great Chicago Fire most people just think of the cow that tipped over the oil lantern, but there was really a lot more to it. 18,000 wood buildings were destroyed, 100,000 people were left homeless, and 120 bodies were found but it is estimated that about 300 people died. There is a debate about whether or not the fire left a negative or positive impact in the long run. The negative effects were all the damage done to the city, the amount of people left homeless, and the people who lost their lives. The positive effects were the more secure city that was rebuilt after, the discoveries on materials that could make people safer, and the laws that would make people safer.…

I wasn’t sure what I expected when going to my community service for the first time. The place that I choose, the Lincoln Park Community Shelter, resided nearby the Lincoln Park, DePaul campus, so I just thought it would be an easy travel to and from the train station. Walking to the site, it was something that I’m not easily used to at home. Around there, there were clean and beautiful scenery all around. Every block I would walk pass a jogger or a person walking their dog in the peaceful environment.…

A community environment serves an important function in shaping our personal development and belief system. The community an individual grows up in says a lot about that individual as a person. With strengths, comes weaknesses and every community differs in many ways. The community I grew up in may differ from the community others lived in, and that’s what makes us all unique and different from one another. No matter if you live on Grand View Drive or you live on the south side of Chicago each community has its different problems, and just because someone may live in a different neighborhood than you doesn’t mean you are complete polar opposites it just means you experience obstacles differently in your daily routine and that is completely…

We spent a whole day at my school doing simple tasks such as garden cleaning, moving old furniture, covering graffiti, repainting old walls and stairwells. In the end, volunteering had a huge impact not only on me but also the community around me. It enabled me to connect with my community and make my school a better place. I realized that helping out with the simplest and smallest tasks can make a drastic difference in society. If we were to lose physical space, people would surrender their desire to obtain public good.…

Ms. Moore starts off with an incisive criticism of segregation, its underlying causes and the apparent unwillingness of Chicago Mayors to focus on it. However, Moore argues that even so, the South Side is a “magical place”. She describes it as a strong community with “vibrant business, bars, funeral homes”. The author briefly describes what is beautiful about having been raised in the South Side and then proceeds to relay her point to the readers: Diversity is worth celebrating, high-poverty segregation is not. She then explores the negative effects of segregation and then proceeds to briefly examine the effects on segregation the housing crisis had.…

The Prevention of Gang Violence In Chicago In the last 20 years Chicago has been ridden with gangs, crimes, homicide, fatal shootings, and devastation due to the loss of innocent lives. Police enforcement are turning their back to certain areas of the city because ¨they are far too dangerous.¨ The Wall Street Journal, an international newspaper based in New York City quotes “so far this year someone was shot in Chicago every 150 minutes during the first five months of 2016.…

An elderly woman who got to take part in a high school community service project states, “Many think that volunteering is all about what you give. But what catches you by surprise is how much you receive in return.” This demonstrates why many people do not feel that they should give back because they do not believe the benefits that they can get from it as well. Consequently, when creating that feeling of happiness and satisfaction in someone else’s life, it comes back to the person creating it. Volunteering to help someone get tutored, help the handicapped, involve themselves with a program like Meals on Wheels, certain environmental work, etc., not only does one gain from that, but one’s community has been helped because of them.…
