F. Scott Fitzgerald presents many themes in The Great Gatsby. One of many themes is dissatisfaction even if the book centers around the extremely wealthy they’re not happy. This particular theme develops throughout the book by main characters cheating on each other with different people. The motif cheating provides an added comparison on how the extremely rich are still dissatisfied we their lives.
The first example of cheating comes when Nick, finds out that Tom Buchanan was having an affair with Myrtle Wilson.
