Why Is Bribery Illegal

Bribing public officials is not only illegal it is a crime. Throughout history, bribery and the government have gone hand and hand. Bribery is when someone accepts something of value for an act that they would not have otherwise been done. There are laws in place for the United States government and Military to deter bribery but due to the lightness of the punishments it continues to happen. Heavier punishments, however, will better deter and eventually stop bribes from this happening. When the average person thinks of the men and women of the United States Military and Department of Defense, they usually think of outstanding people who can do no wrong. Alas, this is not always the case. There are many bribes that go through these men and women every day. They pay to keep people hush hush These groups have government secrets that if other countries found out America will be over People would be getting away with things they should not be and it could end up hurting people instead of helping protect people like they are supposed to be when found out Americans have lost trust in whichever group it is
