Benjamin Franklin was one of the most renowned Founding Fathers of the United States of America. Earlier in his life he spent his time as a writer. From that he was known as a scientist, inventor, and politician. As a scientist, he was an important figure in the history of physics for his discoveries and theories concerning electricity. As an inventor, he is known for the bifocals and lightning rod, among many other inventions. In his life of being a politician he facilitated many civic organizations, including Philadelphia’s fire department and a university.
