Why Is Banning Books Should Not Be Banned In Schools

Banning Books has always been a touchy subject. Many people have so many different religions and believes that it is hard to follow what is acceptable anymore. Banning books is a form of censorship that schools use to stop students from reading inappropriate content found inside literature (). It can be found all over the world, from the west coast of North America to Japan (). From the problem of banning books, to the reasons of why it happens, and how we could stop this, banning books is a large problem for the common intellectual high schooler and teacher to deal with. The problem with censoring books in schools is very simple if you think about it. It is literally the process of not allowing books into a school. The problem is not that we want to read these really old, boring books, it is the idea of it. Banning a book is not allowing us to read material that we wish to (Book banning reaching). Let people read what they want. If it clashes with a religion or beliefs (), those children do not have to read it, they can have an equally interesting book that is considered alright for them. Reading material is a personal choice for individuals, and that should not be taken away because of somebody else’s personal preferences for their own family (). When a teenager actually wants to read, which is very rarely, there should be nothing stopping that fountain of knowledge between them. If a parent does not want their children reading certain content, many private schools have the right to withhold books, especially religious schools (). Poorer parents may have to send their child to a public school, but they are very lenient when it comes to religion. Have the parents sign a note and that child will not read the assigned book that is considered inappropriate
