Why Is Band Important In Schools

Band is one of an important things at school to not only us as students or as a band, but also the high school as a whole. Band is vital to students because it helps us feel accepted. In band, we are much like a big family. All of us care about each other and band. I have met so many people through band and form bonds that will last forever, or at least for the rest of high school. Without band, kids that don’t necessarily feel cared about at school or home can be cared about through band.
Band even helps with grades. If your grades aren’t so good, you are ineligible to participate in any of the band contests or activities until you get your grade up. It is a great way to gently motivate students to keep their grades up, because if they don’t, they know that they will not be allowed to participate in the activities they love to do. …show more content…
For pep rallies, assemblies, and football games, the band plays songs such as the National Anthem as well s other pep tunes. Our pep tunes are songs that the audience will probably all recognize and that keeps the audience’s excitement at one hundred percent at all times. Without the band, who would keep the audience “pepped up”? Who would motivate the football team? On Friday, September 22nd, our Shawnee football team played against Tecumseh. Almost nobody was in the Tecumseh stands, including the lack of a band. Shawnee won. This wasn’t because of the sole reason that we have a band and they did not because I know our football team is pretty good, but we definitely kept the entire audience pumped
