Persuasive Essay: Should Animals Be Tested?

Superior Essays
All over the world animals are being tested on products such as Febreze without even knowing it. Animal testings are used for many studies. The human organ system, and the body structure is similar to that of animals. Researchers study animals to understand how the human body processes different drugs and chemicals such as that of the animal. Animals help with the study of several illnesses such as cancer, and heart diseases. Many companies test on animals, some of these companies include Clorox, and Febreze. There are many animals such as rats, rabbits, cats, dogs, and monkeys in labs that get experimented on. Experimenting on animals is wrong, and should be stopped because they feel pain when being experimented on, human beings and animals …show more content…
Animals are experimented on products such as pesticides, clorox, dish soap, drugs, and by the departments of transportation even chemicals for transports are tested on them. They are kept in cages where they are treated, and fed, so that then they are able to get tested on, while animals are healthy it can give more accurate to scientists. Animals want to be free, but in these cages they suffer. When animals are kept for a large amount of time in cages, they tend to become stressed, and start biting on their own flesh, and they pull out their own fur do to side effects of the experimentation, or experiences they might have had while getting experimented on, and waiting in cages. Once scientists have conducted their experiments, and then they are killed. Animals should get released back into the wild if the results were harmless, and if they would not affect anyone else, or another living creature. The cosmetics that are being experimented on the animal can be deadly, and the animals will suffer, and end up dying. No animal should ever face being genetically engineered to develop cancer, as mice are; being intentionally paralysed from brain damage, as monkeys are; or being force-fed pesticides and other chemicals, as dogs are. (Curie 2012) Damage is being done to animals, and these cancer cells are being engineered, so that they are experimented on …show more content…
With theses methods the results are able to have a better accuracy. While using animals as experimentations to be tested on a products that was created for human needs specifically, they are testing different types of species. Computers, human tissue, and cell structures have more accuracy, and focus on the “clinical and epidemiological” study showing how they work as a human disease develops in a body. These new developments also help with the testings of cosmetics, or products that are being created. Some people might say that testing on humans is not an option, so they test on animals instead, however research shows that before a product is released for sale it is tested on a human. There are micro brains that scientists have developed that can also be used for the purpose to retrieve results. “The organs have potential to help model neural problems in their earliest form to test the safety of drugs” (Verger 2013). The micro brains are used to test on drugs meaning it’s another way to test if certain drugs are safe, they test drugs such as tobacco, and vaccines on animals which can be prevented if they use micro brains more often. Human tissue, once developed and integrated, researchers can use these models to predict whether a candidate drug, vaccine or biologic agent is safe or toxic in humans in a faster and more cost-effective way than current methods.

Utilizing living animal for the benefit of researcher and for the testing many types of products has been a matter of heated debate for for many of years now. Many people consider animals as pets or companions; whereas others look upon animals as only aids for researchers to study on. Despite peoples feeling towards animals, the reality is that animals across the country and around the world animals are being abused by cosmetics companies and research facilities. Even though humans sometimes benefit from successful animal testing, the pain, the torment, and deaths of the animals are not worth the potential benefits it may bring to humans. However, With all the new advancements in medical and scientific technology, the pain and suffering of…

People, especially scientists, are hurting innocent animals that did no harm to anyone. Animal testing shouldn't be allowed to happen because animals are getting hurt, they are not protected, and animals get mistreated. One reason that animal testing shouldn’t be allowed is because animals are getting hurt. For instance, the Draize eye test involves rabbits having their eyelids clipped open for as long as multiple days so that they don’t blink the product being tested away. Popular cosmetic brands like L'oreal, Lancome, Estee Lauder, and S.C. Johnson are used on animals.…

Testing on animals is scientifically known as vivisection and it is used for a number of reasons. Verifying the safety of products meant for human use is one of the reasons for animal experimentation. Products requiring animal testing are cosmetic, personal care, household, chemicals, and medical devices. Vivisection is also used to develop new medical treatments that may be beneficial to some patients.…

Every day, doctors experiment on and brutally abuse animals in order to verify the safety of products. Animals are continuously subject to the inhumane testing of cosmetics, medical experiments, household products, and genetic modifications. In the laboratory environment, the average animal spends it days locked away in a constricting cage while being put through gruesome experiments. However, due to modern alternatives, all animal testing is completely nonessential. Although animal testing provides for a security blanket for the assurance of safe human products and an overall human gain, laboratory testing unnecessarily manipulates and tortures innocent animals.…

Animals have been used for testing since the beginning of time so scientists can find information about us and test medicines to see if they will be safe on us. In times during BC where physician Herophilus and Erasistratus discovered information about our sensory and motor nerves and tendons (Monamy 8). In the early years of AD, Greek physician, Galen of Pergamum, made his own discoveries about our anatomy of the brain by using animals, but eventually, Galen’s discoveries soon faded, but were brought back during the Dark Ages where religion took a huge part of testing whether or not animals should still be tested for experiments (Monamy 8). Christians, for example, think that animals should be respected in a way since they were “God’s creation”…

Animal experimentation refers to a biomedical research method that is based on the studying live animals. Chemical substances deemed as heavily poisonous for humans are used in the animal tissues as reliable models for human beings. However, in reality, every species is different b terms of their immunology, physiology, gene expression or anatomy, meaning that each animal can only be its own model. In many ways, animal experimentation causes harm to human beings. For one, new chemical substances that perhaps have not been screened properly are used in human, but as a result of natural basic methodical errors they put the lives of human at risk occupied by diligence in response rates by every organism.…

Animals are tested on for human products all of the time. Some products that are tested on animals are Vaseline, Iams pet food, Mars candy, Windex, makeup and even cures for human diseases. This is animal abuse and it can hurt them badly or even kill them, it’s not promising that the product will work for a human if it works on an animal. How would you like to be a tester for animal products?. Sure people might say they are just animals and there are so many of them so why not use them for testing, but sometimes the product doesn’t even work so why test it on a sweet animal when you could save a living organism by testing it on something else.…

Which is much more accurate than testing on animals. Testing on animals isn’t necessary at all due to them not having the same DNA. Animals are different from humans, therefore react to things differently than humans do. “Testing products on animals does not guarantee any benefits. It is now proven that testing on animals does not indicate that a product is completely safe for human use.”…

Stop Animal Experimentation! When you go to the store and pick up a beauty product, what do you see? Most people would see models and tv ads, but you know what i see? I see helpless, innocent animals, locked in cages, being victims to the testing of the corrosive, toxic chemicals that are used to make beauty products. Animal testing is cruel and inhumane to most people and the only reason why other people turn their back to helping these animals is because they do not truly understand what happens behind those testing lab doors.…

It is unacceptable behaviour from people in our modern world today. Even though some animals are needed for medical research for the tests that give us reliable results, cosmetic research is not necessary. By not in this day and age we should know what chemicals people can work with and what chemicals we cannot. We have enough cosmetic products and brands, it is not necessary for cosmetic researchers to go on and test on animals. Animals should have similar rights as people, and we need to learn to share our planet with them.…

Although animal experimentation has provided many benefits, there are alternatives to test toxic substances that may eliminate the cruel use of animals in research. The United States, along with many other countries, have turned to the use of animals in research labs to test human products for hazardous substances. According to the Kennedy Institute of Ethics Journal, the United States uses about 12 million animals every year making it the biggest conductor of animal experimentation in the world. Scientists and many companies believe that testing their products on animals save humans from being harmed if the product is toxic. However, no matter what the benefits of animal experimentation are, the tests conducted on the animals are cruel.…

Because animals cannot speak up for themselves and only we can speak up for the horrid acts that continue to happen in cosmetic laboratories, this means that only we can stop what continues to happen every day within the cosmetic industry . PETA, author of animal testing 101 explains that “More than 100 million animals every year suffer and die in cruel chemical, drug, food, and cosmetic tests.” PETA also states that “Unfortunately, things are different in the United States. As hard as it is to believe, animal experiments for cosmetics continue even though non-animal tests are widely available.”…
