Why Is Animal Testing Wrong

Decent Essays
Animal testing started in 1966 legally in the US but it has been happening since 500 bc. It happens because people want to know if there product is harmful or even deadly so they test it on animals. In my opinion i think animal testing is wrong. First, now there is alternative methods for testing on animals so we don't need to test on animals. we don't need to test on animals because humans are able to be tested and studied on. Now there are volunteers that would be more than happy to be tested on rather than animals and the doses they give volunteers are to small to see drastic reactions. Although there is not a lot of volunteers to replace the 26 million animals that get tested on. Also, some animals die because

Animal Experimentation is Ridiculous “Chimpanzees share 99% of their DNA with humans, and mice are 98% genetically similar to humans” (Goodall). If most of these animals that are being tested on are genetically related to humans, then what may they be feeling. Humans get sad when they are lonely and go through pain. It is the exact same for those animals sitting in cages wondering when all the pain is going to be over. Animal experimentation is ridiculous, most products tested are never put on the shelves and most products have different effects on humans, there is a large amount of animals being tested on for no reason, and animals are feeling vulnerable every second they are in a cage.…

People, especially scientists, are hurting innocent animals that did no harm to anyone. Animal testing shouldn't be allowed to happen because animals are getting hurt, they are not protected, and animals get mistreated. One reason that animal testing shouldn’t be allowed is because animals are getting hurt. For instance, the Draize eye test involves rabbits having their eyelids clipped open for as long as multiple days so that they don’t blink the product being tested away. Popular cosmetic brands like L'oreal, Lancome, Estee Lauder, and S.C. Johnson are used on animals.…

I am against animal testing is that substances tested on animals that may never even be used for some useful purposes. In other words sometimes animals receive tests for such substances that will never be approve or will never see public consumption, which make the process of testing completely useless. When things like that happen, it become clear how unjustified the die or suffering of an innocent animal actually was. Thus, animal testing should not be allowed since in some cases death or suffering of animals result in nothing useful.…

It will save the government money, save animals and human lives, and it will allow for us to move forward and discover new ways to help fight off diseases and look our best. Another alternative to testing on animals is using human skin leftovers from surgical procedures or donated cadavers can be used as test subjects (Alternatives: Testing Without Torture). This would be a very useful way of testing, because there are so many procedures each day the skin could be donated and used to research the safety of products. Even though there are pros and cons to each way of testing products if it does or does not include animals. I believe that it is best not to use animals in research labs to test vaccinations and other various products because it is inhumane and better overall.…

Though I believe animal testing is cruel and unethical, it is currently the single most accurate option. Inarguably, scientific research has led to countless breakthroughs and saved millions of lives. Ultimately, the harsh treatments endured by animals is highly wrong, but this research still remains vital for treating and curing diseases. Animal testing plays a crucial role in sustaining the human race and without it, many of us would not be alive today.…

In the 1900’s people around the globe started testing their drugs and other such tests on animals. These tests would be done on animals to test if their product would be dangerous to humans and to see the results. The test resulted in millions of rats, mice, guinea pigs, and rabbits dying just to see if a product would be successful. Testing animals is inhumane and endangers the animals being tested on and should be stopped because testing on animals endangers the animals, Animals can’t speak for themselves and so we don’t know what it is that they want. and By testing animals we are endangering their safety and all other animals that are born from the tested parent and could have bad effects from the test.…

For many years, makeup companies have been testing harmful chemicals on animals. Some people think that this is a good idea, but many other people like me think differently. The chemicals tested on animals harm them. As procon.org says, rabbits and mice will get sick with cancer, go blind, have swollen eyes, internal bleeding, and death.…

Vaccinations for animals, such as rabies, tetanus, and feline leukemia, allow animals to live longer in good health. The diseases mentioned above are largely preventable now because of the use of animal testing. New vaccines and treatments are being made everyday because of the constant gain of knowledge within the species and human body.…

Animals should not be tested for barbering products because testing is cruel treatment to animals. Michele McKay states that “Animals endure chemicals being dripped into their eyes, injected into their bodies, forced up their nostrils or forced down their throats” (1). According to the article chemicals are put in there eyes which can cause them to become blind, injections can have dangerous side effects and the force feeding makes animals eat or digest things they usually would never eat. Animals go through it all in laboratories its like an animal jail but not only are they locked and poorly fed but even tortured to the point of death. The People of Ethical treatment for animals state that “The animals’ suffering begins even before they reach the vivisectors’ hands when they are ripped from their families and forced to live in bleak conditions” (1).…

The question “is animal testing for medical research acceptable?” has been a particularly controversial topic since experimentation on animals first arose. Although I do not wish to exacerbate a feud with an unforeseeable end, I feel that I am obliged to bring some points to light. On one side of the of the fence, animal rights activists wish to protect vulnerable beings who have no voice yet on the other side thousands of people are dying of possibly curable diseases. A common argument for the abolition of in vivo animal testing is that animals do not provide consent to bring tested upon: how would you like it if you were plucked from your home without your consent?…

Animal testing and experimentations have been affecting the lives of an abounding number of animals for years. There are numerous ways we could avoid animal testing, yet scientists still do it. And with improving the new ways of science, it can also improve the quality of the products “Instead, replacing animal testing will improve the quality as well as the humaneness of our science.” Animal testing is a big dilemma; this predicament could be deciphered by using a analytical chemistry method and always buying cruelty free products. Animal testing all started when a scientist said “that animals possess the same physiology as humans - helped dim the light throughout the Dark Ages, but the renaissance offered a slight reprieve.…

Animal Testing According to People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), over 100 million animals are killed every year in the United States only for educational purposes and for testing potential medicines and products. Although animals have been the subject of experiments since the 300 B. C, it was in the nineteenth century that those experiments became widespread (Orlans 3). With the dissemination of this phenomenon, the popular conscience grew and became a worldwide issue (Orlans 3). Nowadays, animals are used to test medicines that can cure human diseases, but also are used to understand and prevent some of those diseases such as cancer or heart problems.…

It is estimated that more than 100 million animals worldwide are used in experiments each year. Animal testing is a big problem in today’s world because there are so many animals are being abused in labs and hurt for even killed every year. If you get caught once it’s a warning, if you get caught twice it’s a fine, and if you get caught three times it’s jail time. If animal testing isn’t banned, animals will start to die off from cruelty or diseases. Animal testing must be stopped or decreased dramatically because the number of animals being tested is an insane amount and the items being used is unbelieveable.…
