Why Is Animal Testing Ridiculous

Animal Experimentation is Ridiculous “Chimpanzees share 99% of their DNA with humans, and mice are 98% genetically similar to humans” (Goodall). If most of these animals that are being tested on are genetically related to humans, then what may they be feeling. Humans get sad when they are lonely and go through pain. It is the exact same for those animals sitting in cages wondering when all the pain is going to be over. Animal experimentation is ridiculous, most products tested are never put on the shelves and most products have different effects on humans, there is a large amount of animals being tested on for no reason, and animals are feeling vulnerable every second they are in a cage. Why are animals being put through so much pain? Almost all brands that test on animals only produce one of the hundreds of products they’ve already tested. “The unfortunate aspect is that many of these animals received tests for substances that will never actually see approval or public consumption and use” (Murnaghan). As many products that are not making it on shelves, the main reason is because it does not have the same effect …show more content…
Most of these species include dogs, cats, guinea pigs, hamsters, marine mammals, primates, pigs, rabbits, and sheep. Imagine how many are being experimented on around the world. All types of species are being tested on throughout the world and vary through different countries. “Seventeen to 22 million animals are used in research each year in the United States.” While many companies state that by testing animals, they are limiting the bad effects it will have on the human population. As stated previously, animals and humans might have branched off from each other but are completely different. After being tested so many times, they can start to be immune to the different side effects that one product might have on them, like humans and

Oliveira 1 Animals should not be used for scientific or commercial testing because animal testing is cruel and inhumane, alternate testing methods are available, and because humans and animals are every different from each other making animals very poor test subjects. Research on living animals has been practiced since at least 500 BC (Animal Testing Pro & Con). Scientist use animals for many different purposes. Animals are used to test the effectiveness and safety of new drugs before those drugs are given to people to treat illness and disease. Animals can also be used as test subjects for products like lipstick, eyeshadow, contact lens solution, and shampoo (Hayhurst, 26).…

There has been several tests that have gone wrong on humans but they when they tested the drug on the animal it went perfect. Élan Pharmaceuticals created a vaccine to fight Alzheimer, the vaccine worked perfect on mice, the vaccine cured the mice from Alzheimer. They used the same vaccine on humans but the results were different, their central nervous system inflamed (Alzheimer's Vaccine Trials Suspended). It is clear that testing drugs and substances on animals is not safe for humans. Another example to prove that animal testing is not a safe way to test drugs is the process of replacing hormones on women.…

A rabbit strains against the box confining him, only able to move his head, as a scientist comes by to drop chemicals into his eyes. Hundreds of other rabbits are beside him, getting the same chemical dropped into their eyes that causes burning pain to erupt. Millions of animals go through excruciatingly painful tests that cause suffering and usually end in death, just so researchers can predict what might happen to a human if they were to use the product being tested. Animal testing is a controversial subject but in the end, it is unreliable, cruel, unjustified, and should come to an end. To begin with, animal experimentation provides unreliable test results and false information on the side effects of products.…

Is Animal Testing Worth It? Every year, nearly one hundred million animals --including mice, rats, dogs, monkeys, etc.-- die in many United States laboratories because of cosmetic, medical and biology testing, and experiments that serve no purpose. To understand the true terrors of animal testing, people need to know what animals are going through. Animals in laboratories suffer from day-to-day protocols and laboratory life, many do not even get a chance to experience fresh air or sunshine because they live in cages.…

Animal Testing in the United States Every day animals are being used for scientific research either leaving them mutated or dead. Imagine your dog being taken into the lab for various cruel experiments that lasts for weeks. After being tested on multiple times your dog can’t take it anymore and ends up dying. Does that seem right for any animal to go through pain, and potentially risk their lives for research? “Each year in the United States an estimated 20-70 million animals—from cats, dogs, rabbits, rats, and mice suffer and end up dying in the name of research” (Congress).…

Imagine your family pet being enclosed in a small, cold, and dirty cage for days, weeks, or even months on end, only being taken out to be subjected to painful experiments without any anesthetic, as well as the possibility of developing life threatening diseases and injuries. Too many animals experience this on a regular basis around the globe - in fact, nearly 25 million animals will be used as test subjects annually. Animal testing is a horrible occurrence, one that brings suffering to even the smallest of creatures. Many people do not know the extremes of the effects of this practice, which are unnecessarily painful to animals, or that alternatives do exist, and that the results are not always accurate and time/cost effective. Experiments…

Why Animal Testing Should Be Banned Everyday innocent animals are being forced into labs and tested for human research advancement. Cruelty Free International states how approximately 115 million animals, including rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, rats, mice, dogs and monkeys are used in dangerous laboratory experiments every year. In fact, many of the experiments are said to be useless tests, as stated, “The reality is that the majority of animal experiments do not contribute to improving human health, and the value of the role that animal experimentation plays in most medical advances is questionable” (“Animal Testing is Bad Science”). Misconceptions by the media may stretch the idea how animal testing can cure diseases, illnesses etc.. But actually, as emphasized, animal testing is an inefficient way of finding medical advances, making the procedures to be unnecessary and making there be no reason to force animals into labs without a choice, it's blatantly a waste of animals lives.…
