Abortion is the process of terminating a pregnancy within the first trimester. Think about it, that is a life that doctors are taking, most people do not even think twice about it. At 7 weeks, the fetus already had arms and legs, and a brain. Unwanted pregnancies, rape, incest, birth control failure and not being able to afford to provide care are the main causes of abortion. Abortion should be illegal because adoption is the best alternative, it can result in medical complications later on in life, and it offends God. Adoption is the best alternative to abortion. “Adoption is the process of taking legal

Keeping the baby and having to go through nine months of torture is just unfair to the woman. “This would keep reminding her for nine months of the violence committed against her and would just increase her mental anguish. It is reasoned that the value of the woman’s mental health is greater than the value of the fetus” (Beckwith). Having a baby due to rape or incest is harmful to the woman’s mental state and could result in horrible consequences. Abortion would be best to help them move on with their life, and hopefully get past their trauma. A fetus is only considered a fetus once a pregnancy has reached the 3-month mark. In the early stages of pregnancy, the fetus is not, in fact, an infant. “If we consider what it is rather than what it might become, we must acknowledge that the embryo under three months is something far more primitive than a frog or a fish. To compare it to an infant is ludicrous” (Peikof). Abortion can be a touchy subject that people argue the fact over if it's right and legal or wrong and should be illegal. Some people feel that abortion is not murder, but there are studies shown that abortion is murder. Although it is the mother’s choice on whether she wants to keep the baby or not, she should think clearly about all of her options. Not only does she need to think about all of her options, but she should realize that this was her actions which had nothing to do with the unborn baby.…

Many argue abortion is wrong because it is believed life is created upon conception and the woman is morally obligated to give birth to the child otherwise it would be murder. The woman was responsible for the act of conception and must accept responsibility for the consequences of her actions, regardless of any long-term effects it will have on her. However if thinking that the fetus cannot live separately from the mother within the first trimester and can be considered her body. Then it wouldn’t be murder to remove a foreign body from her body.…

Abortion is important because innocent babies are being murdered everyday when they could easily be put up for adoption or given to a family that could care for them. Abortion leads to mental and health problems, is considered murder, and adoption is free, therefore, abortion should be illegal. One reason that abortion should be illegal is because it leads to many problems for women. Women that have abortions have emotional and mental health issues. They are developing to have their own life's, to grow, not to be killed. Killing a baby that is not yet born is taking their own rights. It is easy for someone to take it away because the baby cannot fight for it.…

“Trauma represents just one category of mental states causing significant emotional harm to individuals” (Cohen). So if a woman gets pregnant from rape or incest and develops a trauma, an abortion will help remove the trauma and improve the mother’s emotional health. Moreover, “[If a woman] prefers to end her pregnancy, raising a profoundly disabled child might be thought to also impose significant [emotional] suffering” (Cohen). If a mother knows that her unborn child will be disabled, the mother will be depressed, but if she gets an abortion before the baby is born, this could improve the mother’s emotional health. Furthermore, “The rape case, the trauma, and the pregnancy have the same “cause” and are inextricably linked such that one cannot end one without the other” (Cohen).…
