In order to understand the controversy, you must understand the two opposing positions and opposing beliefs. When it comes to abortion, there are two sides and two positions that people take, one side of the isle is pro-choice and the other side is pro-life. The pro-choice camp basically believes that a woman has the right to choose to abort a child, while the pro-life camp believes that life begins at conception and therefore abortion is a clear and deliberate decision to end a life. It appears to be an argument that’s not going to go away and definitely won’t go away without a fight from both sides. Whether or not individuals or groups choose to have a strong position, abortion will continue to remain a highly controversial topic that I believe deserves our attention to have proper education, dialogue and debate. By definition the word controversial means: “giving rise or likely to give rise to public disagreement.” Which means that for something to be controversial it has to be important enough to give rise to public disagreement. Abortion is a poster child for controversy which means it merits us, “the public” to have some degree of consideration. Directly or indirectly, abortion affects all of us.
