A woman is said to be a “life giver”, but yet most women in today’s societies are having abortions. “Abortion is the act of removing a human embryo or fetus from the uterus of a pregnant woman prior to the completion of the full term of pregnancy” (Rich and Geraldine 1). Abortion should remain illegal. In just 5 weeks of a pregnancy cycle, the fetus has a heartbeat. In most cases, some women do not know that they are pregnant by then. Even if she finds out she is in the first trimester, most women still go on with abortion.

Women who have been raped usually resort to abortion, but proper medical care can prevent pregnancy. Abortion can cause medical complications later in life; “the risk of ectopic pregnancies (a pregnancy in which the fertilized egg implants outside the uterus) doubles, and the chances of a miscarriage and pelvic inflammatory disease also increases” (About.com news and issues. N.p.). Some of the most profoundly upsetting testimonies come from women who have had abortions without fully understanding the procedure (Chittom and Newton 3). Adoption is a viable alternative to abortion and accomplishes the same result. Many times teenagers who get pregnant usually resort to abortion. Because they do not know the consequences of having unprotected sex. Some women use abortion as a form of contraception, but abortion cannot be used as a contraception. Many times couples are not blessed to have children, instead of killing an innocent life giving the baby up for adoption would be a better decision for both mother and child. A childless couple can feel the blessing of having a child, while the mother that gave up her baby can feel a relief. Same goes for a woman who has been raped; adoption is a better choice than killing innocent human life.
