In my high school planning for my paper, Some of Us Just Don’t Have it, my planning was thought out by just writing a summary of what my main paper was going to be about. That made it difficult as I was writing to elaborate on my ideas because I didn’t allow myself any supporting evidence in my planning. I simply would state a fact and then when I went to write my paper, I would have to go back and find supporting evidence to better my writing. Now, through an example of the F.E.A.R. template I was taught in this course, my plan is a an organized description of what my actual essay will be writing on but, it is simple and states the facts. This shows through with my example from high school, I Am Who I Am. This essay I wrote lacks in strong verbs and strong structure. In high schools we did not take time out of the curriculum to teach more in-depth on the single things, like making a verb stronger and how that ultimately can make your paper stronger. In the course through the college, we talked a lot about making verbs stronger and how that allows for a clearer picture to be presented to the audience. We did exercises like my example from one of our verb exercises where we took strong verbs and made them weaker to show the difference and then took weaker verbs and made them stronger to create a picture and help describe the picture more clearly. Also in Area C, we starting learning about the different parts of a paper and we went more in-depth with the different elements that help a writer become successful in their writing. It includes; in-text citations, a works cited page, and how to correctly address each type of writing in a paper. As an example I showed my high school compare and contrast essay and it is a good representation on how I used to write and then I gave an example of a paper I wrote for psychology about psychological therapies. It is made clear that in my high school paper I did not cite my sources, I did not have in-text
