A Scary Date Narrative Essay

I was nervous, probably more nervous than I have ever been in the four years we have been together. Yes, we have been dating for four years now and I have never asked him out on a date. In fact, we have only been on 5 “real dates”. We started dating our sophomore year of high school and much like other teenagers, we did the typical skating, movies, and food dates. However, as our senior year rolled around, we found ourselves stuck in the Netflix and chill stage. As time progressed, we drifted off to different parts of the state for college. We were approximately four hours away from each other and our relationship turned into a texting phenomenon. When we got this project I was anxious because it was a perfect excuse to be together. Unlike yesterday 's date, I wanted to do something fun that he would remember forever. He helped me get ready by decorating my costume, I was a scarecrow he was a hunter. Earlier in the week I saw flyers about haunted houses and corn mazes throughout Greenville and I knew he would love that. That was our big scary date; however he had no clue what was in store for him. We drove into the night, he asked me a thousand of questions about where we were going. When we finally reached our destination he was so excited to see the maze that he gave me the biggest bear hug I have ever experienced. You see, James loves scary things: scary movies, blood, roller coasters, and Halloween, the complete opposite of me. I was terrified and my painted scarecrow face showed it. Even with so much makeup on he kissed me and held my hand as we enter the corn maze. It was the scariest thing of my life and I reconsidered it as we ran for our lives hand in hand. Finally, We made it out alive. It was still early so we drove back into town and I treated him to his favorite restaurant, MOES. The weekend was full of events and things he loved doing. Throughout our relationship, it has always been about me. It was always what I wanted to eat, where I wanted to go, and what I wanted to watch on Netflix of course. It was weird the whole thing, but I loved it. I was taking care of him for a change. He looked happy and thankful, he was actually enjoying himself. I ate some of his nachos, smiled and thought to myself, wow I love this man. We soon left MOES and sadly that was the end of our date. It was still early on Halloween night so we decided to have more fun; therefore joining ECU Halloween events for the rest of the evening hand in

The Christmas season has finally arrived, bringing with it the revival of classic holiday songs that take up a majority of play time on the radio. Everyone has songs they either adore or hate, and some people just cannot stand holiday music all together. However, no song this season has received more attention and backlash than “Baby, It’s Cold Outside.” With the lyrics, “Say, what’s in this drink?” and “Oh baby don’t hold out,” many have claimed that the song implies date rape. Although the song does appear creepy and forceful at first glance, upon further inspection the song, “Baby It’s Cold Outside” does not allude to date rape, but rather tells of a scandalous romance for that time.…

Halloween is like a horror movie, except with drunk teenagers instead of axe murders. It was about two years ago, when we were still living in Germany. It was a fairly peaceful Halloween night and the sun was about to set. My friends and I were walking around the village, what Germans call a town. After about half an hour of us walking around and talking, some acne filled, tall, muscular and older, German teenagers came up to us.…

I had the day all planned out and was ready for all of the adventures that would be remembered for years to come. With this being his first birthday since we began dating, I made sure to plan an exciting day that would be followed by revealing my big news that I had in store. Within the picture before me, I see myself, dressed in all black; black dress shoes, black pants, a black button-down shirt with a sleek black tie, a black coat, black gloves, a black ski mask, and a black fedora to complete the persona. Frightening faces sat taped over the panes of glass around the porch lights, their eyes glowing as the light passed through, a red beacon rotated about, casting shadows across our lawn with each pass, and eerie music played loudly, drifting through the air into the night. All the while, I sat on a bench in front of our house waiting to scare or give out candy to anyone who approached. I am still not entirely sure what I was supposed to be; was I a gangster, an assassin, a burglar, or even a personification…
