Why I Want To Write A Scholarship Essay

I can recall a time when I challenged myself to do tremendous work over the summer. That summer was this year, where I encouraged myself to take drivers education for my license next year, test out of Algebra 2 and P.E., work at my parent’s nail salon to earn some cash, do my AP History and Advanced English homework, practiced my viola for Symphonic Orchestra, read during the night, and study for the S.A.T. (which was way too early for me). I was prompted to act because I recently found my ambitions for my future, which is wanting to become some sort of engineer (undecided, but it’s related to this field), have the highest GPA possible, and get accepted into University of Michigan. These ambitions didn’t hit me at the speed of light, but naturally throughout my ninth grade as I transition to a broader level of education. Too late? Too early? It …show more content…
But since my desire for getting a license and drive without the need of my parents grew, this irresistibly made me choose to take the class in this summer. Each night, my teacher assigned our class to read about three chapters on mostly unnecessary information that for me I thought I wouldn’t need in life. Let’s just say, this class is more suitable for students who are having a good summer with nothing to do; it takes about three to four hours a night just to read and remember the contents. With this, we were taking tests about every four days, and out of four tests, I only passed three. Despite passing my state test on the first shot, my time left came down to two months left. As Algebra 2 took up most of my daily schedule in the evening, I was rolling my other tasks, going to the gym early every morning to prep me for my P.E. evaluation, doing my other summer homework as soon as I got home, and the extra time I have left was put into reading and

Why I Should Be Considered for this Scholarship I should be considered for this scholarship because I value and participate in my community. I have to thank Ottawa-Glandorf High School for presenting me with organizations such as Key Club, Jr. Optimist, National Honor Society, Glamour Gals, and Big Brothers Big Sisters. These organizations have helped me become involved in this community. Along with community service, I am also active in school sports and extracurricular activities, all while maintaining a 3.969 GPA. Growing up is was no question whether or not I was going to college, it was an automatic yes for me. No one had to ever ask me if I was going to college because they all knew that the answer is yes. The reason why I knew that I had to go to college was because everyone in my family went to college; now don’t just think that because everyone in my family went to college that we are a bunch of rich snobs. We have all been hit with the reality of struggles in life. That’s why I learned quickly that you don’t just go to college so you can get a better education you have to be able to do something with that education.…

I feel I should be considered for an endowed scholarship because I work hard for this university and community. I am committed to the Loyola experience because of the love I have for this university and all those who enter it. I did not become a Resident Assistant for compensation, I applied because I thought it would be the best opportunity to provide first year students with the resources and foundation that will help them understand what Loyola can do for them and how much this university cares. The line ‘go forth and set the world on fire’ can spark something different and extraordinary to each individual. I have dedicated my entire academic career at this institution to exemplifying Magis and being ‘more’.…

“I’m ready, I’m ready” says my childhood star-Spongebob before starting each day of work. This was also the same attitude with which I started my junior year with. Unfortunately, unlike Spongebob I did not end up continuing with that same attitude. The year was 2016, and I was certainly filled with hope for the new school year, but all to no avail.…

The purpose of college, this question can be answered in many different ways. The purpose of college for some people might be to get a degree and move on into the next chapter in life, but I feel that college should be more than that. I feel that college should be a way to express yourself in ways you couldn’t before and to be able to explore new ideas and to shape yourself to become someone new. College for some people might seem like just another step in the never ending staircase of life, but to me college is more than, that it's shaping me into the person I want to become and shaping my life for what I want and who I want to be. The purpose of college is to find a source of happiness, whether that is a field of study a person or something else is up for you to…

WHY I WANT TO JOIN THE HONORS PROGRAM Alighting from a Boeing 747 jetliner on the JFK tarmac on Thursday evening, April 28, 2016, I walked into what could be called a new page in my life story—a new start. That was my first time on this side of the hemisphere. With little money, zero friends, one close relative and little to hold on to, I found myself leaning on only a thread of asset – my mind. Knowing this, I vowed to keep this God given asset alive and growing with all my soul and might, and what better way to do this than to identify with people of like passion, people who will add to me.…

Personally paying my way through college is just the start of the many complexities I endure as a young adult. It’s mentally challenging to put aside the worry and stress of paying for my particular degree, all while wondering if I’ll even be able to have some saved up for my career after college. My major is Acting in the Bachelor of Fine Arts and that alone is quite a risky major within the college and out in the real world. It is a dream that guarantees less of a secure, consistent and long lasting career, but I truly love theatre with all my heart and those thoughts are the reason why I’m sharpening my skills at the University of Arizona. As of now, I am relying on multiple scholarships, some that support me for one school year in which regardless I am forever grateful and others that support me as long as I am reaccepted in to the acting program.…

I can recall my recent summer when I challenged myself to do tremendous homework. I walked into my high school for the first time a shy, naive, non-resourceful kid who didn’t think that he would need to study for the classes he had take and that high school would be a breeze like middle school was. It’s easy to say that I was clearly not ready for the challenging classes that faced me. I ended my first trimester devastated, but determined to improve my performance come next trimester. As an intrinsically motivated student, I decided that if I was going to get the grades I desired, I would need to do something I had never done before, and that was to study regularly and consistently. The next trimester, I put my old habits to rest as I stopped procrastinating, and started to use the resources that I hadn’t even tried to use…

We all know as kids school isn't the best place, What i have struggled during this mid-quarter was not coming too school. Not coming too school set me back a couple days of work, once that happends its hard to catch up. To better myself during the rest of the school year I am going to work less because its hard to have a habit of doing homework constantly then working and having that break the chain, Its hard to always do homework when homework doesn't fascinate me because its just very perfunctory , I thought about maybe getting classes that would be provocative to me but I decided to take 2 senior classes this year so I wont need to have as much classes next year and I can just work more and still have time for school.…

Growing up, I always remember hearing about the importance of having a well-rounded life and education. It was expressed by the people around me, in the TV shows I watched, and in the books I read. Even though this didn't always mean the same thing, I got the impression that a well-rounded student got high grades, participated in clubs, took part in something musical, and played a sport. As time went on, and I grew into a teenager, this thought stayed in my mind.…
