Why I Want To Trinity College

We are all defined by the standards of our imaginations. Growing up in a blue collar family of metropolitan Boston, I was always encouraged to have grit, determination and character. My personal expectations were high because my parents instilled strong values within me. I was taught that opportunity comes at the expenditure of extreme effort and character. Many of my personal values parallel the ideals of the Trinity Mission. This is why I believe Trinity College is a great fit for me. Trinity is a place where I would have great opportunity to refine my skills, become more cultivated, and grow academically.
Unfortunately, I have lived inside the small bubble of the Boston area my entire life. Although I have grown very fond of this region, I have not been able to venture outside of it. I yearn to spread my wings and experience the world on my own. This is why Trinity would allow me to develop into the man I hope to be. I would be able to eliminate any narrow mindedness or ‘parochialism’ that exists in my life by exposing myself to the realities of the outside

As a member of the Trinity College community I would use my education to confront the challenges faced both within the confines of the campus and beyond into the outside world. I would oppose injustices felt by my peers as well as the surrounding community. I would use my gifts, talents, and experiences with public service to be a steward to the meek, the troubled, the needy. Creating change fosters the progression of society. It would allow me to lead a life of consequence while on campus and become engaged in my surroundings. Becoming a productive member of my community is how I aim to lead a life that is socially useful. Taking action takes courage and character, two traits I am more then willing to take on as my own. As Mahatma Gandhi, a pioneer for change, once said, “Be the change you wish to see in the

After conducting an in-depth interview with successful college graduate, Tim Love, I have formed multiple connections from his college experience to ideas presented in past readings, lectures and discussions. Before explaining my findings, I think it is important to note that Tim is a thirty-three year-old married father of one daughter (soon-to-be two daughters) who works as a dean for Loyola University where he attended college and received a major in Italian. The first insight I formed was that Tim’s idea of success is fairly equivalent to that of a successful person as defined by this course’s instructors. Tim’s idea of success is being able to work hard at something, such as solving a problem, while being able to produce an unintentional…

At Xavier University we believe in the “All for One and One for All” philosophy; showing that camaraderie and equality among all are still possible. One way Xavier lives up to its support for students is through the one-year long Smooth Transition mentoring program. I served as a smooth transition mentor to three incoming first-year students during the 2016-2017 academic year. In order to ensure that they have a successful first year at Xavier, I informed them about the resources Xavier University provides, including the writing center, mathematics lab, tutoring services, Ohio link, and much more. I also advised them to make good decisions and form relationships with people who would motivate them to succeed.…

I have completed many hours of community service and I believe that it is my responsibility to involve myself in my community in any way possible. Getting involved in the community helps build a strong character and it teaches certain values that will benefit other communities. Speaking of community improvement, it is also my responsibility to pay any taxes set for me by our state and federal governments. Without taxpayer money, it would be impossible to maintain many of our most precious and crucial government funded organizations. If the American people allowed those organizations to fade away, we would be hurting our country and helping ourselves.…

My future plans of becoming a speech pathologist can be accredited to my summer trips to inner city Baltimore, Maryland as a mentor and counselor for the Agape House Ministries. Through my encounters with a diverse group of children and an environment that was entirely new to me, I realized that I am passionate about not only these children, but children in general. In my lifetime, I want to impact as many children as possible, particularly by helping them work through speech and cognitive issues as a speech-language pathologist. However, in order to eventually reach this goal, I will first need a college education. Education not only qualifies a person to work in the field of their choice, but it also allows them to see different points of view, and ultimately decide which way of thinking that they will adopt as their own.…

As I peered down at the candle in my hand, I knew God was calling me to go forward. The more I thought about it, the more my hands began to shake. At the age of 12, this was not a calling I was ready or prepared for. Looking around at the candles in kid’s hands around the chapel, the feeling became more and more prominent.
