Why I Want To Pursue My Pathophysiology

You never know how much you want something until it's almost taken away from you. During my CA-1 year I was involved in an incident where there was a mishandling of narcotics. My residency was on the line, and even after I was cleared of all wrongdoing, I still felt like I had something to prove. I had to show this program and myself that I belonged. Unfortunately, I've been in this situation before, as the underdog, time and time again. While in elementary school, I was considered hyperactive and my teachers thought I was letting my potential go to waste. A year after being in a class for troubled youth, I cleaned up my act with the help of couple mentors, took the gifted placement test and got into advanced classes. By the time I complete my third year I want to feel as if I can be in charge of my pump cases, with oversight from my staff of course. I’m confident this can be done even if it sounds daunting. My greatest strength is solid work ethic. I also know what my weaknesses are and how to overcome them. Nothing has come easily to me. However, it's my positive attitude and determination that has taken me this far. Hopefully, once I successfully complete a cardiovascular anesthesiology fellowship, I want to work in a major tertiary center with an anesthesiology residency program. I've come to realize that every time I work with junior residents and medical students, I get satisfaction from teaching and it helps to reinforce my knowledge. I am grateful to be part of this profession and nothing will bring me more pleasure than to continue this journey in cardiovascular anesthesiology. I know that whatever it takes for me to accomplish my goals, I will try my best and nothing
