I was raised in Michigan, but, don't be fooled. I have cheese running through my blood, thick skin to survive the brutal winters, and my heart softens every time I see an Aaron Rodger’s jersey. After being born in Appleton, Wisconsin, I frequently went back to visit the beautiful state; with each visit, I fell more and more in love. I appreciate the University’s approach to applying knowledge to the real world. When I attended the University of Wisconsin tour in August, Rommel Jimenez gave a presentation that really resonated with me. When he explained the countless opportunities the University has available, I really began to think of how that would benefit me.

To be straightforward, I am highly impressed with University of Wisconsin’s academics. Although I am satisfied with my high school transcript, I know it does not portray the student I actually am. My A in AP psychology does not show how many questions I asked, how my curiosity kept me up studying extra information about the pituitary gland, or how I genuinely wanted to understand the material. My A in Spanish 3 does not show me trying to communicate with the numerous Hispanic bussers and dishwashers at work. Not only did I want to succeed in the class, but I wanted to apply everything I learned by attempting many conversations with my coworkers. Being a versatile person, I admired the balance between the busy city and the serene bay. I admired the contrast between the older, characterized buildings and new, modern buildings. Lee took the longest time to dissect his frog because he wanted to settle for nothing less than perfection, as impeccable was not a great enough adjective. Each college student knows what it is like to constantly worry whether or not the score on the ACT is high enough to get accepted into a school or if certain AP credits will transfer to the school of choice. It’s my junior year of high school, and I had just begun looking at colleges and universities I believed would suit me personally and educationally. Each school was severely critiqued on certain elements they had to offer, such as, majors/minors, clubs and organizations, pre-professional programs, and even extracurricular activities. This was going to be the place I would ultimately spend the next four years of my life, so I needed to make the perfect decision.…

My entire life I have always wanted to do something where I would be remembered positively by many people. I recall always telling myself I was going to become a backup dancer for a famous singer, become a singer myself, or maybe an actress. Better yet, I thought I could have been all three. Back then, I was very uncertain about any career goals I have had.…
