Why I Want To Pursue A Math Business Degree

I wake up in the morning, more tired then I was when I went to bed, with my math study guide notes stuck to my face; my only hope of revival is a hot cup of coffee. The long late nights are rough, but my hard work will be worth it for my future career. My interest in math has led me to pursue a career in math business, with all the challenges and opportunities my future career will bring. I enjoy math, but my interest in math business was not immediately sparked. I did not decide I wanted to pursue a career in math until last year after I took my first college math classes. The classes were hard, but I enjoyed the way the classes pushed me to work harder. The complicated problems were frustrating, but nothing equaled the rewarding feeling I felt after completing a problem. I realized, after taking these classes, that math was my true passion. As a result, I decided making a career out …show more content…
Accountant, actuary, and numerical analyst are just a few of the many careers a math business degree can provide. I need the comfort and flexibility of having plenty of career options. When I am in college, I want to explore all the possibilities my degree has to offer because in four years I may want to pursue a different area of math business than I do currently. Having numerous opportunities in math business, will help me reach my full potential. Math is a challenge; I do not need anyone to explain that my future will be difficult. However, the challenges draw me in. I want my career to challenge me because it will shape me into the well-rounded adult I desire to become. A math business career will equip me with skills that I can use for the rest of my life. Such as, critical thinking, problem solving, and the ability to manipulate precise and intricate ideas (University of Kentucky).
