Every weekend, I volunteer at my local church as an alter server. This has allowed me to develop my social skills, and confidence. In addition to that, I regularly attend karate on the weekends. I am currently a brown belt, aiming to get my black belt. During the week, I attend drum lessons, and currently I am working on achieving my grade 7. All three of these activities were also used for completion of my Bronze DofE award. Furthermore, I completed a two day one night expedition through the forests of Thetford. The DofE award has improved my team skills, through working cooperatively with an aim, and navigating trails independently. This year, I have started my Silver DofE award, which includes a three day two nights hike in the Peak District. In the sixth form, I plan on completing the Gold DofE as well. Prior to leaving due to the inconvenience of boarding, I also attended St John's Ambulance cadets. There I received my level 1 first aiders award. In year 8, I went on a two week exchange program with a school in Germany. It developed my independence and confidence in situations where I am not in my comfort
