Why I Want To Pursue A Dental Science Degree

Growing up with limited proficiency in English, it was quite difficult for me to find a school subject of my interest. I never really had the chance to know what it felt like to be passionate about an area of study until the later years of my academic career. It was the day where the water cycle was taught in my fourth grade science class. I fell in love with the fact that everything, even the concept itself, fits perfectly and logically. I felt like I did not have to master the English language thoroughly in order to understand the concepts. Soon enough, science became the subject where I did not felt lacking in. From there onward, I was determined to show my capabilities as well as my potentials in mastering science. Even till this day, I continue to strive to attain greater knowledge in this area of study because I do not wish to be held back from my passion due to my language barrier. Science is the field of study that I genuinely enjoy learning and it is the only subject that can bring out the true passion in me not found elsewhere. My interest and passion in the field of dental medicine blossomed due to frequent visits to the dentist’s office. Unlike any normal kids my age, I would go to my dentist appointments always filled with excitement and anticipation. I remember curiously scanning all of the dental instruments on the tray and sometimes I even managed to stealthily touch a few when the staff were not looking. Overtime, my curiosity turned into interest and the interest soon turned into passion. Even though I enjoy stepping in and out of dental offices, I, along with the majority of dental patients out there, are admittedly no fans of
