As social worker we be knowledgeable about clients’ history. Through assessments we learn clients age, race, gender, culture, religion, educational background, work experience, marital status, and health issues. I have chosen to enter the profession of social work because I want to help people who are suffering from mental illness and who are underserviced when it comes to getting help for mental illnesses. You may feel one way about a place and I do not necessarily need to feel the same. I just think there is no consistency with the social worker schedule to meet our needs, if we are available and she is not then theres no visit, and poor coordination. I texted her Saturday about this week scheduling and hoping to have a visit on Friday October 16th, 2015 she got back to me yesterday afternoon telling me that you had available Saturday but that there are not social workers available, today there is one; they wait till the very last minute. When I switched my major from Psychology to Social Work, I was deadset on getting my Bachelors in Social Work in two years and graduating in the spring. I have spent most of my time in college as a part-time student and was happy to know that the Social Work program had a very specific track for full-time and part-time students.
