The inspiration that I have received from my grandmother and mother has driven me immensely, but it was through my work experience that furthered my aspiration to become a Clinical Nurse Leader. My time spent working and volunteering at the Greater Baltimore Medical Center, has taught me the importance of selflessness. Everyday I did my job to the very best of my capabilities, which meant coming in early and staying late. I expressed compassion and empathy to anyone that walked-in or called-in to the clinic. I found great joy in knowing that I was part of a team that aided in the well being others.…

Nursing has always been a passion to myself. Ever since I was a little girl, nursing has always been what I would write on my school papers as what I wanted to be when I grew up. This past August, that dream came true for myself when I graduated from Western Kentucky University’s Associate Degree of Nursing. Since graduating, I have become employed at Greenview Regional Hospital, where I am currently being oriented to the medical surgical floor. My personal values are what attracted myself to nursing.…

Once I got out of my parents’ house and started to live I realized all the things I thought I want or thought I was interested in; all those things were just things I was told to like or do. I tried to stay close to what my family wanted me to do, while trying to decide what I wanted to do with my life.…

Growing up I’ve always had a passion of taking care of people, and even in my household I was surrounded to what felt like an E.R. room. My Motivation: What motivates me the most to pursue a college degree is that I will be the first person in my family to receive one. My grandmother is the backbone behind this motivation because she was always making sure that academics came first in my life. There was rarely a day that I would come home and she would not ask me questions about my homework, asking what I learned in school, or even looked over my homework. As I got older, she made sure I was a part of a college prep program called AVID from 6th-12th grade and that definitely made a difference for me. It helped me understand the importance of continuing your education and how beneficial it can be to succeeding in life.…

Whether or whether not nursing is considered a profession is a question that has been brought up recently to me. The answer, to me, seems very obvious. Of course nursing is a profession, and it’s a very important one at that. There are plenty of characteristics of why nursing is a profession and what makes it so important, but I have chosen the one that I thought was the most important characteristic of all. The reason that I believe proves that nursing is an important profession is because “the services provided are vital to humanity and the welfare of society” (Black, 2014, p. 55).…
