Why I Want To Participate In MYEP

Decent Essays
I want to participate in the MYEP program because it gives me an opportunity to explore the career that I'm interested in. I'm very passionate and dedicated when it comes to my future and what I believe in I like to take advantage of opportunities like this. I realize that this is very serious and there's a lot of responsibility when it comes to participating in this internship. The most important reason I want to do this internship is because want to make my parents proud i want to show them that their sacrifice wasn't in vain, migrating to the U.S in the year 2000 leaving their families behind just so we can have a better future. Along my journey in school I remember all the sacrifices my parents did for me and my siblings. For example, my father Adolfo Garcia would work from Monday to Saturday from sun up to sun down in order to provide food on the table, clothing on our backs, and a roof over are heads. Although both of my parents encourage and motivate me to attend school and pursue higher education, I am also motivated by all the sacrifices they have made because I know that if it wasn’t for the support of my parents I would not be where I am…

“Ninety-nine percent of the failures come from people who have the habit of making excuses.” Due to the ever increasing amount of procrastinators in society, nothing gets done. This quote teaches that no matter what circumstance maybe, doesn’t give you a reason to give up on life. Unlike many of my peers, my life story is slightly different. Many of my peers share the story of living in a single parent home, being homeless, violence, and poverty. However, in my case, living in a two parent household is strange to hear about to my peers. For me, living in a two parent household means more work because of my desire to receive a full scholarship. Upon my research, I noticed that many of my older peers would receive better college financial opportunities because of their life experiences.…

Deserving is a rather strong word in which I cannot seem to find any appropriate synonyms. Because what actually deems a person “deserving” of something? That in itself is what boggles my mind as I write a paper on why, out of all people, I am the deserving one. Well let me tell you. I am a young and adventurous, seventeen year old kid who thinks he knows everything, but in reality, is really just fooling himself, as he is others. With that said, I am also very naive, impulsive, impatient, but in some twisted paradoxical way, very caring.…

However, undergoing any challenge without their guiding experience can certainly prove to be an undertaking. I, a first generation college student, am the pioneer of higher education for my family. As for my father, I would rarely see him around the apartment since he had to commit to two different jobs – day and night. As a child, it is really heart-breaking to see my parents suffer, but it has motivated me to become someone much greater than I could possibly imagine. Additionally, I want to prove to my parents that coming to America was not a waste, rather is an exceptional opportunity for success, and excelling in school is the only way to transform every pains and tears into joyful cheers. With that in mind, I devoted my time studying and figuring out ways to adjust to this unique American culture. Next, I started to participate in workshops and events relating a variety of careers, jobs, colleges, and scholarships, which was very useful and beneficial in assisting me to plan out my career or pathway and what I need to do in order to achieve my ultimate goal after high…
