Why I Want To Join A Police Academy

Improved Essays
The reason as to why I want to join the explorers program is because I was just recently in the Junior Police Academy or JPA. The Junior Police academy lasted for one week (Mon-Fri) over the course of that week the police officers introduced us to many things. Whenever the officers taught us about something new I gave it my full attention because I wanted to know more of what police officers do on a daily basis and what they did in certain situations. The reason why I want to be part of the explorers program is because I find what the police department does for our community a bit intriguing. I enjoy how police officers always put other people's lives before theirs and that officers will do whatever they can to keep everything and everyone

I have a strong desire to become an officer in the United States Navy. To achieve this goal I wish to be accepted into Officer Candidate School where I will later graduate with a commission as an Ensign. I believe myself to be of both strong mind and body, and I accredit this to my commitment to my school, my work, and my training. I graduated top ten percent of my class in High School and Magna Cum Laude in college and I continually try to increase the diversity of my knowledge so to become a better rounded person. I majored in Criminology and Criminal Justice and minored in Psychology, so through convention teaching methods I have gained a firm grip in the Social Sciences; however, its through my work experience that I have really grown.…

The demand for police officers, as reported by the U.S. Labor Statistics, is expected to increase by seven percent. This increase is due to the demand of having police officers risk their lives in the front lines against the battle of crime. Police are needed to maintain peace, prevent and investigate crime, reach out to the community, and protect the people they represent. A law enforcement officer must be able to accomplish all of this goals and still contribute to society. To experience the same contribution law enforcement officers provide to the El Paso community on a daily basis, I had decide to volunteer my time in the Boys and Girls Club of El Paso.…

A career in corrections appeals to me for a number of reasons. I enjoy working with other people and excel working with people from different backgrounds other than my own. While I was in the Army there was strong demand for a structured work environment. This is something I desire in a career and feel that corrections as other professions in law enforcement demand high level of structure and expect nothing less. To attain this expectation requires individuals to be highly disciplined, so they are able to give 100 percent every moment they are not only on the clock, but when you’re on your own time as well.…

In class a lot is learned about the different rankings, necessary education, and the court systems but talking to an officer gives you personal insight on what he has to go through in everyday life. You can hear how actually dangerous their jobs can be rather than just reading it. You can hear how much they want to keep their community safe rather than just hating them for giving you a speeding ticket. They tell you things they enjoy and dislike doing in their line of work and see how much action they actually have to deal with rather than just relying on stereotypes from movies. I have a new found respect for officers, for the ones who actually care and enjoy their line of work to better the community that they work…
