I’ve never played competitive basketball, I’m essentially the opposite of LeBron James, and I define lanky. I look pretty silly when I play basketball, with my chicken legs dangling all over the place. I’m a baller stuck in a runner's body but that doesn’t stop me from being truthful about what I want out of my future. I know I’ll never play in the NBA, but a dream isn’t necessarily about the destination. I love playing basketball, and you can find me practicing outside during most of my free time. So even if the nba is pipedream I’ll still enjoy myself while I’m playing. …show more content…
I’m not the most outgoing guy so I struggle to meet new people or hold up conversations. I think of shooting hoops like a lot of adults think of golf. It’s a great way to get to know someone without feeling pressured to keep a conversation going. When I’m shooting hoops with someone, awkward silences are just silences, because we’re more focused on making a shot than trying to talk to each other. I actually thrive socially when I don’t have to keep a conversation flowing for long periods of time. Lots of acquaintances turned into friends through shooting hoops and to this day, whenever I need to get to know someone I suggest playing some ball. Recently a friend of mine returned from college on a break and I was nervous about having to break the ice with him again. We met on our usual court and everything was back to normal

Growing up in southern Louisiana I often found myself sitting around and enjoying the abundance of delicious foods the area had to offer. My family would often eat more fried foods in a day than most families would eat in a week. By the time I was 10 years old I was weighing almost 150 pounds. I often found myself alone watching other kids gather up to play sports in the park. Lacking the physical strength and social skills to compete I often found myself at the early age of 10 seeing a doctor to deal with the stress of not being able to play with other kids.…
