Why I Want To Go To High School

Decent Essays
Im very excited to start the next part of my life and yet terrified. I have no idea what I want to do for the rest of my life and that scares me. As a child they asked us what we wanted to be when we grow up and I wanted to be a singer. Now that I’ve grown up I want to be so much more than that. There are many options now ranging from a coach, a director, a teacher, and even a neonatal nurse. A reason why I would want to go to college would because it would help get me to places I want to be in life such as helping me get a good paying job or th position I would want. Another reason why I want to go to college would also be because I want to see what it is like to attend a college and at least try it out. While in college I hope to work part time to earn some sort of income as well but if I am going to be working it is only going to be a short term job till I earn the degree I would need and land a job as either a preschool or daycare assistant. I chose to become a preschool teacher/ daycare assistant because I love working with kids and feel like I would have the things I would need to qualify me in becoming those things such…

Why Go to College? Jiddu Krishnamurti once wrote, “There is no end to education. It is not that you read a book, pass an examination, and finish with education. The whole of life, from that moment you are born to the moment you die, is a process of learning.” People go to college to get a direction for life.…

As a high school senior, the question I am most used to hearing is, “where do you want to go to college,” and my habitual response is the Wharton Undergraduate School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania. But I think that the more apt question is “why do you want to go to college?” Personally, I want to learn. The Wharton motto of “knowledge for action” embodies this desire to learn and use this knowledge to pursue a career in something that engages and interests me. I am an aspiring investment banker and international business executive and am intrigued by mergers and acquisitions, investment banking from an international perspective, and the effect of international events on the global economy and the ensuing effect on corporations.…

In the summer you can find me busing tables and answering to the hangry tourists that dine at Bar Harbor Restaurant. Eight hour shifts, seven days a week, but on the occasional slow days I’d get to cut out early so my summers are still filled with adventure. Hiking uphill through the thick brush to reach the peak of Dude Mountain, where the ground meets the watercolor skies. Biking through the overpopulated wooden docks downtown, points for pedestrians (just kidding). From fishing to jumping off the docks, to camping beneath the starry skies with friends, nothing beats Alaskan Summers.…

On a particularly sunny morning in Washington, Mr. Charbonnel, sipping on a mug of tea over skype, answered my question regarding his choice in university. He gave me two separate answers to my questions. The first answer being the one he gave to his family and friends, “I wanted to go to school with my sister so I applied to Washington State!”. But after a moment’s chuckle he responded, “The actual reason why I choose Washington State over any other school was that I had procrastinated all first semester, and it was the only school that was actually still taking applicants.”. Having known Mr. Brandon Charbonnel most of my life, once as a teacher now as a friend and a somewhat of a role model, I was satisfied with the second answer he had…

As a little kid I always thought of different things I wanted to be when I grew up. It is scary to think that the time has come where I actually have to figure it out now. There is something that is exciting coming up with the career I want to have for the rest of my life, but it is also a nerve racking thing to think about. There I was on June 10, 2013 sitting in an auditorium filled with proud parents, uncles, aunts, siblings, teachers, and most importantly students. Today was the day I was promoted to the ninth grade and could consider myself a freshman in high school. Nothing felt better than knowing that I was making others proud, but then I stopped and thought about what was ahead because I knew I was not done yet. Being congratulated by my mother, siblings, and grandparents meant a lot to me because aside from myself, they were who I was graduating for. Not only did graduating and going to high school mean something to me, but it meant a little bit more to them.…

My entire life I have always wanted to do something where I would be remembered positively by many people. I recall always telling myself I was going to become a backup dancer for a famous singer, become a singer myself, or maybe an actress. Better yet, I thought I could have been all three. As I entered middle school, I realized those goals were too surreal to even become the slightest bit possible, mainly since I am located in an area that most people haven’t even heard of. Back then, I was very uncertain about any career goals I have had.…
